Hello Eric espy, thanks for your post!

From my understanding you used the icemaker on your Frigidaire refrigerator and now have a code of "SY CF" on the display. That code of "SY CF" stands for communication failure after power up. This could be a possible communication error between the UIB (User Interface Board) and main control board. I would suggest performing a reset, which should clear any false error codes. If you continue to receive the error I would suggest contacting a professional technician for proper diagnosis and repair. This may help you avoid unnecessary part purchases. -Matt

SOURCE: frig won't cool, freezer works fine

Defrost unit completely. You're frosting up. Then, avoid leaving the door open, leaving liquids and food uncovered. Clean condenser coils. If it happens again, you need refrigerant.

SOURCE: Kenmore Elite 596755 - Freezer warm, Ice Melted, then...

A refrigerator or freezer that is cooling, but cooling poorly, may have a problem in one of several areas.
Poor cooling is often the result of a heavy frost build-up on the evaporator coils or a condenser that is clogged with dust, lint, and dirt.
You can't see these coils without removing a panel on the inside of your freezer. A sure sign that there is a build-up is the presence of any frost or ice build-up on the inside walls, floor, or ceiling of the freezer.
Such a frost build-up usually indicates a problem in the self-defrosting system or damaged door gaskets.
Watch its operation more closely to see if any same symptom.

How do I fix the 5Y CF code on my display on my Gallery Frigidaire and the light is out on the other side of frig, do they go hand in hand

A model# would really help diagnose your problem. It is actually sy cf which is a communication error.

The easy answer is usually to replace both boards ( the main and the ui board) but there could be an issue with a shorted wire in the door ( although I have yet to find one on a Frigidaire )

And yes, the lights go hand in hand with this error.. Fix the error and the lights come back on

How do I run diagnostics on a Frigidaire Gallery Refrigerator

Ice Maker (Flex Tray Fresh Food Compartment)
The Ice Maker must be turned on before entering the
Service Mode. Check the 'ice off' indicator on the User
Interface to verify that the ice maker is in on.
Diagnostic Service Mode Activation
Express-Select â„¢
To activate the Ice Maker Service Diagnostic Mode,
press and hold fresh food and freezer up (?)
simultaneously for up to ten (10) seconds.
Pro-Select â„¢
To activate the Ice Maker Service Diagnostic Mode, press
and hold 'options' and 'power on-off' simultaneously for
up to ten (10) seconds.
Activation of Ice Maker Service Diagnostic Mode
automatically turns off all Ice Maker Control PCBA
outputs. The compressor runs at fixed speed of 4500
rpm and the condenser fan turns on until Service Mode
is deactivated. The damper is closed and the fresh food
and freezer lights are enabled as well as the alarm audio.
Defrost of the main system is not allowed.
Deactivation
Express-Select â„¢
To exit service mode, press and hold fresh food (?) for
up to 10 seconds.
Pro-Select â„¢
To exit service mode, press and hold the (+) key for up
to 10 seconds.
Service mode is also automatically deactivated after 5
minutes of no key entries (that includes Communication
Lost). All outputs are turned Off. Previously selected
main system and ice maker operational modes are
restored.
Testing
To actuate an ice maker load of the selected test step
(turn on or off), use 'power on-off' on the user interface.
To step to the next ice maker sequential test, press fresh
food (?) or '+' on the LCD screen. To step back to the
previous ice maker sequential test, press fresh food (?)
or '-' on the LCD screen. The selected test number will
be displayed on the fresh food display.
After pushing 'power on-off' to start automatic test
or turn on the load, the ice maker control will display
the test result on the freezer two digit display. When
waiting for the test to be automatically performed and
the result displayed, the test number (test ID) will flash
on/off. After the automatic test is completed the test
result will be displayed as "P" - pass, or "F" - Fail.
For an interactive test, the technician manually activates
the load using 'power on-off' and physically verifies the
system response. Pressing 'power on-off' again turns
the load off. The freezer display shows the current or
expected state of the load. During the load transition
the fresh food display flashes the test ID. After the last
test step in the ice maker test sequence is completed,
the next advancing action will scroll back around to the
first ice maker test. Stepping back from the first test, will
scroll the test sequence backwards to the last test in the
sequence.
Note: The only test that the test number will flash during
the test is the bail arm test.
Note: If you advance to another test before the present
test is completed the ice maker will continue to run until
the tray reaches the home position before the next test
will start.
Service Diagnostic Mode Test
Sequence
Test 52C: Ice maker Thermistor Test.
The current Thermistor temperature is displayed on
Freezer display when the test is started. It will show the
temperature at the ice maker if the thermistor is good.
A "OP" will be displayed for open and "SH" for in short
circuit condition of the ice maker thermistor.
Test 55C: Water Valve Test
NOTE: Prior to initiating this test, verify that the ice tray
is empty. If not, empty the ice tray to prevent water
from overflowing into the ice bucket. To empty the ice
tray, remove the ice bin, place catch pan under the ice
tray and initiate test 63C. The tray will twist and empty.
Touch 'power on-off' to start the test. The lower control
board will turn on the green and brown water solenoid
valves for a duration of 4.6 seconds if set for small cubes,
5.8 seconds if set for medium cubes or 7.0 seconds if set
for large cubes. Additional 'power on-off' activations are
ignored. If you want to re-run the test you will need to
advance to another test and then go back after you drain
the water out of th

We have an electrolux fridge model EI27BS26JS3. I was getting ice from the ice dispenser and it sparked and then shut off! It came back on 15 seconds later with a code of SY CF. Not staying cool e

My question is did you see where the sparks came from and did you smell something when it burned I would think that you may have a compressor start relay that has shorted out that happens sometimes. If so we can get a replacement 3 N 1 with run capacitor and replace the whole thing in one rewire providing the compressor has not shorted out

Error Code SY CF wire in ice caddy is exposed and when I removed the ice caddy, the code came up and now the fridge and freezer will not cool.

In some model years, the defrost timer was installed in the icemaker. So, even if the icemaker itself is inoperable, it must remain plugged in to the unit to operated the compressor.

Frigidaire SY CF issues

Good Morning Jack, thank you for your question!

Typically error code SY CF indicates that your refrigerator has detected a communication failure after power up. The error code may possibly continue after replacing the part you have ordered. With this error code, a professional would need to check wiring between the main control board and user interface board. After proper diagnoses and if the error continues, the main control board may need replacing. Hope this information helps to some degree!
