If it is one that the fan starts when the shelf is pulled out and then stops when it is pushed back in, it may be the switch inside has broken and is now touching and causing a connection all the time. I would suggest a white goods mechanic to have a look at it as these things are hardwired in and you can't turn the power off without disabling the power on the board. They can be on different circuits to your lights and power points as well. So don't think if you have turned the power off to power points and lights that you have turned it off. BE CAREFUL!!!! Best Idea a professional.

Thank you for the answer. Unfortunately I accidentally got to the microwave area unknowingly. It is a regular oven, a two piece (upper/lower ovens). I will seek a professional. Thanks.

Pam, google the make and model, then if you do find it go to the manufacture website and look under downloads and you should find a user manual for it. if you still cant find it I would be happy to help you post the make model and year of the oven.

Thank you. I was online looking for the manufacturer's website to find a manual and found these forums with a few "close" questions so I decided to ask you all. Can't find a manual for one as old as this. :(

Fan #4173082 starts squeaking after oven is on about 20 min. I have cleaned up the fan. It seems like it could use some lubricant but what can safely be used? Or a bearing may be shot.

Try contacting the manufacturer. I've found a motor for an old ceiling fan that way. Also, a repair shop might lead you to the part.

GE Spacemaker XL1800 vent fan doesn't pull air from beneath

On the exhaust system (top of unit) there is a small metal 'damper' that is most likely stuck shut. If that is all clear then you have a problem in the duct work of the home.

Where do I place the oven racks when baking cookies??

Hi,
If the oven fan forced I would bake them on the middle or top shelf, if it isn't I would use the middle shelf as the higher you put them the hotter it is and the quicker they can burn?

Hope this helps,

Cheers,

Dave

Having difficulty getting old spacemaker oven out in order to install new.

There are two screws coming into the top front accessed inside the cabinet it is mounted to. the rear of the unit is hung on clips on the bracket screwed to the wall behind it. Take out the two screws ( sometimes hidden under paint or shelf liner) and have someone hold the front up. Then push up on the whole oven and pull it out towards you. ( get help it is kind of heavy). dont forget to unplug it, and feed the cord down as you pull the microwave out. sometimes you have to pull hard, as the pins on the bracket get bent during installation.

My microwave oven isn't heating my food. Everything else works, the fan, the lights and the keypad. The microwave turns and sounds like everything is working but the food won't get hot. It is only 1 yr...

If it's less than one year old, it would be fully covered under warranty and you should contact the manufacturer to get it fixed free.

Some have longer warranties, and that will be covered in your owner's manual.

Microwave Arcing

The metal shelf that comes with most microwave ovens must NEVER come in contact with any surface of the cavity wall or arcing will occur. (this is why its is mounted on plastic clips). IF you are not using the shelf to cook multiple items (as most people don't)....Remove the shelf and store somewhere else until needed.
