In my reply I didn't explain fully, if you had a bad update with that error code you need the file I listed to update first. After the successful update you will be able to install the latest.

Did you download the 12625 update from Microsoft and try it from USB? More info please, was the box modded in any way? The update you need is not the latest by far. Download update 2.0.12625.0 here
1 Plug your USB flash drive into a USB port on your computer.
2 Download the update file.
3 Click Save to save the console update .zip file on your computer.
4 Unzip the file. If you are using Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 or 8, double-click the .zip file to unzip it.
5 Copy the contents of the .zip file to the root directory of your flash drive.
6 Unplug the USB flash drive from your computer.
7 Plug the flash drive into a USB port on your Xbox 360 console.
8 Restart the console.
When the console restarts, the installation program starts automatically. Select Yes when you are prompted to update the new console software.
Hope this helps

The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28) There is no driver selected for the device information set or element.

Cause of the Code 28 Error A Code 28 error is caused by a missing driver for that particular piece of hardware. There are any number of reasons that a driver might not be installed for a device but your troubleshooting of the problem will be the same no matter the root cause.
Resolution
  1. Restart your computer if you haven't done so already.

There is always the slim chance that the Code 28 error you're seeing in Device Manager was caused by a fluke with Device Manager or in your BIOS. If that's the case, a reboot might fix the Code 28.

  2. Did you install a device or make a change in Device Manager just before you noticed the Code 28? If so, it's very possible that the change you made caused the Code 28 error.

Undo the change, restart your PC, and then check again for the Code 28 error.

Depending on the changes you made, some solutions might include:

    • Remove or reconfigure the newly installed device.
    • Roll back the driver to the version prior to your update.
    • Use System Restore to undo recent Device Manager changes.
  3. Update the drivers for the device. Installing the latest manufacturer supplied drivers for a device with the Code 28 error is the most likely solution to the problem.

Important: Make sure you install the drivers for the correct operating system. For example, if you're using Windows 7 32-bit, install the drivers designed for that specific version of Windows. Many Code 28 errors are caused by attempting to install the wrong drivers for a device.

  4. Install the latest Windows service pack. Microsoft regularly releases service packs and other patches for their operating systems, one of which may contain a fix for the cause of the Code 28 error.

Note: I do know that certain service packs for Windows Vista and Windows 2000 have contained specific fixes for some instances of the Code 28 error in Device Manager.

  5. Replace the hardware. As a last resort, you may need to replace the hardware that has the Code 28 error.

It's also possible that the device is not compatible with this version of Windows. You can check the Windows HCL to be sure.

Note: If you still think there is still a software/operating system component to this Code 28 error, you could try a repair install of Windows. If that doesn't work, try a clean install of Windows. I don't recommend doing either of those more drastic options before you try replacing the hardware, but you may have to if you're out of other options.
Please let me know if you've fixed a Code 28 error using a method that I don't have above. I'd like to keep this page as updated as possible.
Applies To The Code 28 error could apply to any hardware device in Device Manager but most Code 28 errors seem to affect USB devices and sound cards.
Any of Microsoft's operating systems could experience a Code 28 Device Manager error including Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, and more.

Hi, I have a emachines by acer laptop and it does show me that windows 7 have an error code 31. I have tried already to fix it by doing the system restore, I dowloaded the drivers that have being deleted...

  1. Restart your computer if you haven't done so already.

There is always the remote possibility that the Code 31 error you're seeing was caused by some temporary issue with Device Manager. If so, a simple reboot might fix the Code 31.

  2. Did you install a device or make a change in Device Manager just before the Code 31 error appeared? If so, it's very possible that the change you made caused the Code 31 error.

Undo the change if you can, restart your PC, and then check again for the Code 31 error.

Depending on the changes you made, some solutions might include:

  3. Delete the UpperFilters and LowerFilters registry values. A common cause of Code 31 errors is the corruption of two registry values in the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class registry key.

Note: Deleting similar values in the Windows Registry could also be the solution to a Code 31 error that appears on a device other than a DVD or CD drive. The UpperFilters/LowerFilters tutorial linked above will show you exactly what you need to do.

  4. Update the drivers for the device. Installing the latest manufacturer supplied drivers for a device with the Code 31 error is a likely fix for this problem.

  5. Replace the hardware. As a last resort, you might need to replace the hardware that has the Code 31 error.

It's also possible that the device is not compatible with this version of Windows. You can check the Windows HCL to be sure.

Note: If you're convinced that hardware isn't the cause of this particular Code 31 error, you could try a repair install of Windows. If that doesn't work, try a clean install of Windows. I don't recommend doing either of those before you try replacing the hardware, but you may have to give them a shot if you're out of other options.

What do i do if error code 51031 comes up on my wii

The error code indicates that the wireless network that is in range of the Wii is not compatible with the Wii. Check to see if there is any interference in the room. Check the list of compatible routers on Nintendo's website to make sure that yours is on the list. Also check to see if there are any special notes on the site regarding the use of that router with the Wii. Check to make sure that the SSID setup in the router is the same one you have entered into the Wii. If you have the router setup to automatically assign the Wii an IP address try and use a manual setup. Setup both the router and the Wii to use a static UP address. Check the website for your router to see if there are any firmware updates that you haven't applied yet and then apply those updates.

If none of those steps resolve the error code then leave another message here. Please include any and all troubleshooting that you have already tried so that we know where we should start.

Code 646 when trying to update

You need to disable your firewall. If you’re using McAfee Personal Firewall, or Norton Internet Security or another Firewall vendor, see vendor support page for assistance in disabling it (temporarily).

If you’re using the built-in Vista Firewall, keep reading.

- Open the Control Panel and select Security.

-Select Turn Windows Firewall on or off.

- Select Off (not recommended), click Apply and then OK.

- Back at the Windows Update screen, click the Try again button.

-The download(s) and installation should start…

-And this time successfully install. Now make sure to re-enable your Firewall once your PC restarts.

* Though this solution will work for most Vista Update errors.
