My ice maker has stopped making ice after owning it for only a couple of months. First, it stopped sensing that the bin was full of ice and tried to keep making ice and now it won't make ice at all. Any advice on what could be wrong with it? Or should I just buy another one?

SOURCE: Ice maker won't stop making ice

OK, there's two possible issues but you have to figure out what is happening. Does the ice maker continue to make ice forever and would fill up the whole freezer section in time OR does the ice maker just "over make" ice that overfills the bin which then falls out? If the ice maker just keeps making ice you need the motor module replaced but if it can be turned off by moving the lever up then you need the "modified lever assy." that is on our service bulletins.

SOURCE: Ice maker

I would replace the water filter on the back of the refrigerator.they eventually become clogged and prevent the normal water flow to the ice maker.

SOURCE: The ice maker makes a burping noise when the ice bin is full

This is normal. Do no let it bother you. As long as there is ice production there is not a problem.

Looks to me your model had the older style ice maker that uses micro-switches to tell what is next in the six parts of one complete cycle. Some times those switch's stick on or off and tend to break. Here is a link to an exploded view=> 5303918344 Ice Maker Exploded View
Let me know if you have any questions so I may help you better, Thanks, Sea Breeze
You can try to disassemble and repair, just be aware that the lever spring will be the hardest part to understand putting back in if you by chance pull the facing off it can jump out of its location giving you hours of fun trying to return to its proper place. SOURCE: Our ice maker keeps making

I cant id the model #. Does the I/M have a bail arm or is it optical. If it has an arm lift it to the upmost position. It should stay there and keep the ice from harvesting. If it does not you Might need a new I/M.

I have a GE refrigerator, model TPX24BPDA, that has an ice maker that won't stop making ice! Whatever mechanism that senses when the hopper is full isn't working. I can't locate any sensor either.

Ice Maker Doesn't Turn Off If your ice maker keeps making ice, even when it is full:
1Lift the bail wireto shut off the ice maker, and remove the ice bin. Then, using a screwdriver if necessary, remove the ice maker, clean it thoroughly, and then reinstall it.
2If the problem persists, consider removing and replace the entire ice maker and valve. With this type of problem, you can have it repaired, but it's often wiser and less expensive in the long run to replace the unit entirely.

How do I get the ice maker on this model to work?

You did not post the model of what you are asking about. In general make sure the water is being supplied to the refrigerator, make sure the ice maker is turned on. (usually there is some thing in the ice storage tray that will sense how much ice is in there and stop the ice maker when it is full.Make sure that can go all the way to the bottom of the ice storage bin.

Scotsman ice machine water runs continually never shuts off. It will make ice but really racks up water bill. It is as if the float never senses the reservoir is full. What is my problem?

OK is the bin full of ice to where the ice stops making ? and is the water running over into the ice bin. If this is whats happening then cut the machine off, If water is still coming into sump tray then pull the water inlet valve and replace it. If the water stops when you shut the machine off then check the water float or sensor since i don't know what model you have, If float then replace it , if probe sensor then replace it. Now if there is no water running over into ice bin during freeze cycle then nothing is wrong ice machines use a lot of water every time it go's into a harvest it dumps the water in the sump tray.

When is ice maker activated ;with bar up or down ??

The bar will sense ice cube level in the holding bin. If it is all the way down it will tell the ice maker to make more ice. When the maker "dumps" the ice the bar should be all the way up and will lower to check the level.

Ice maker

If there is not other problem it will start to work after there is water in the ice mold and it freezes. It will then dump and refill with water.
You can Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

Icemaker not producing ice

Most automatic ice makers have a lever (looks like a piece of wire) that is prevented from being in the down position when the bin is full. This stops the ice maker from producing ice when not needed. The lever can also be lifted manually to a locked up position which turns the ice maker off as well. If the lever is in the up position, simply press down on it, it should release and return to the down position. Once down, the ice maker will begin producing ice again (the unit will have to complete its cycle before you see any ice, normally a couple hours or less). Hope this helps.

Please take the time to give this solution a fix ya rating.
