I have seen the odd case where the power supply cannot keep up with the demands when the laptop is running causing it to shut down, but first! remove the main battery to see if that helps, no change! I recommend replacing the power supply adapter in hopes it will correct the problem. Go to www.ebay.com Type make and model of laptop, refine search to power supply and go through the list of prices.

This problem is due to the following:

• Your computer is overheating
• Critical problems with your registry
• Critical state of the system files
• Hard disk data cable and power cord are loose
• RAM is not properly connected
• Problem with the SMPS connections

For fixing computer automatically shuts down issue, you shall remove the motherboard and reconnect all the connections. Take help of a hardware expert while doing the task.
The solution to fix computer automatically shuts down is to download and run a good and reputed Registry Cleaner software, use RegInOut to fix this problem.

I had this problem on my A639 after going on holiday with it (I think the x-ray scanners did something to it). It started switching itself off more and more as the days went by until one day it went off and never came back. After resetting it, it just stayed on the blue "ASUS Rock Solid Heart Touching" screen. I was worried that it was totally broken and I'd have to pay to get it repaired, but after searching the internet it turned out all I needed to do was re-flash the ROM with a fresh copy (I used the latest ROM). It now works fine and no longer turns itself off... didn't cost me ANYTHING to fix :-)
