How do I take apart a Boston Acoustics BA7800 subwoofer?

I tried unscrewing the four screws on the bottom, to no avail. I also tried unscrewing the 8 screws bordering the back panel, but the panel didn't budge. the screws scattered around the panel do not come out. my goal is to gain access behind the panel.

If you've undone the 8 screws on the back panel... I would suggest the only thing holding it in is..... it's an interference fit... try carefully prising it out.

SOURCE: adapting Boston Acoustics BA7800 for use with TV

Here's what you need:

http://www.vpi.us/cable-audio.html

Scroll down to the 3.5mm Stereo Jack / RCA Plug x 2 Y-Cable

Converts your TRS connectors to dual RCA plugs. You said you have 3 TRS connectors. Does the TV have 3 sets of RCA plugs you can use with this? If not, you may not be able to get full surround sound, just stereo sound, from your TV - and you'll need some RCA splitters to plug two (or three) cables into one port. I know you can get those at Radio Shack.

SOURCE: Speakers have no sound.

Have you tried other speakers? If so did they work? You might try updating the sound card drivers.

Trying to open up a Boston Acoustics VRS Micro speaker to repair a broken speaker terminal. I removed the 4 screws that hold both halves together. Now what do I do? It does not come apart...

There is rubber like sticky gasket between the two half. Its to prevent the box vibrating at some frequency. Use a knife or a flat blade screwdriver - insert into the groove and part it. Should come off except if you are not care full there will be scratch marks on the side of the box.

Trouble with rear speakers

This may be a software issue. If you only had two speakers before, the software will not use the rear speakers.
Go to Control Panel. Click on "Sound and Audio Devices". Under the Volume Tab, at the bottom, you will see a picture roughly representing the type of speakers.
Click on the Advanced button.
Click on the arrow in the pick box, and choose Surround Speakrs or the 5.1 Speakers.
Click Okay. Try the speakers again.

No expert solution here - just a suggestion. Did you check the 9-amp fuse below the "Out to PC" connection on the subwoofer?

Boston BA7800 PC speakers

I would not suggest it. PC speakers generally have their own amplifier built into the system and will not handle the power from a home system well.
