F1 is the code for a water flood in the machine and can appear at any time the machine is plugged in to the power, it does not have to be "on" for F1 to appear. F1 is activated by water causing an electrical bridge between 2 probes on the circuit board on the bottom tray of the machine. (you have to remove the lower drawer to find this card, it is under a protective plastic cover). BEWARE - this circuit card has mains voltage on it whenever the machine is plugged into the power so make sure the power lead is disconnected from the wall plug before you start dismantling.
The likely cause of your problem is:
1. Water is still in the base of the machine from an earlier flood situation - remove the bottom drawer and check, if it's even slightly wet, dry it out really well. A hair dryer is useful here once you have mopped up as much water as you can with cloths. Blow the hot air under the circuit card. If water re-appears after that, you have a leak somewhere so find it and fix it and dry it out again.
2. Water has corroded this circuit card and the 2 probes are connected together by this corrosion - with the mains power disconnected, remove the plastic cover and remove the card, have a look at the underside of the circuit card, check the surface is clean, dry and corrosion free. Cleaning it with an old toothbrush and isopropyl alcohol, blow it dry with compressed air or a hair dryer is very effective.
3. Flood water has damaged the circuit card - if you see signs of burns, scorching, etc when you remove the circuit card for inspection especially on the underside of the card, the card may need to be replaced.

Dishdrawers are particularly vulnerable to water floods damaging this circuit card - a very silly place to install a card with mains voltages on it in the base of the machine where any water leaks will collect. A very common cause of water flooding are dishes, utensils in the machine that extend above the top rim of the drawer. Even slightly above will prevent the drawer lid from effectively sealing with the drawer and water will splash out when the machine operates and flood it.

Fault code F1 can come from a number of different sources and can remain on as long as the machine has power (does not need to be operating). Once a fault is repaired it can be cleared by pressing the Power button. If the fault is still present then it will not
clear. The service manual says: The faults are displayed in the LCD as one of 5 F (fatal) faults or 1 U (user) fault along with the symbol of a spanner. A fatal fault will usually require the assistance of a qualified service person...

Fault Code Description:
Fault Code: F1
LED Display: Rinse LED
Fault: The flood switch has been activated for more than six seconds
Possible Causes
_ Inlet hose to inlet valve connection loose
_ Inlet valve body leak
_ Damage to the fill or drain hoses
_ Heater plate damage (chipped enamel)
_ Seals/O Rings (pinched, contaminated or poor join)
_ Dispenser (seal, diverter valve or weld leak)
_ Lid area (lid motors not functioning correctly, lid off yoke or foreign object interfering with lid seal)

Fault Code Problem Solving:

1.Question: Is there a F1 on both displays? Yes: Go to Question 2. No: If power fails to the bottom tub it will cause thetop tub to go F1. Test heater plate.

SOURCE: My Fisher & Paykel DD 603 has the fault code

Check at bottom housing both top and bottom drawers for leaks.
Pull the tube out, on the left side below the tub you can access to touch the bottom housing. Dry it out with a tower. Un plug the power cord at least 24 hor so the flood sensor can be dried out before pluggin it back.
However, if you don't fix this leak, the sam F1 problem will happen again.
There is not much clogging up in filter. If you expect something clogged up, you have to take the spraying arm off then take out the bottom stainless steel with a lot of holes out to see the impeller clean or not. Good luck.

We have a 23" Fisher&Paykel dishwasher and got

The F1 error coming on top drawer when operating bottom drawer is due to the thermal fuse blowing up on the bottom drawer and shutting controller power.

The thermal fuse could have blown either as a normal component failure or heater over heated due to thermostat failure. In any case this can be repaired by replacing the whole heater assembly as all the parts are integrated.

This is at the underside of the drawer and will need a technician to replace unless you are very familiar with repairing electronic dishwashers. The part look like this.

The way you have described the onset of the F1 error is not due to flood switch. You can confirm that the lights on the bottom drawer are out even though the top drawer is showing F1 and beeping.

If problem was flood switch then both drawers would show F1.

Fisher and paykel doulble drawer dishwasher gives me an f1 repair symble and will not turn off. Fliped breaker hoping for a re-set. Not a freaking chanse. What can I do?

hi john. F1 means your machine has activated the flood switch. you either have a leak or you might have used the wrong detergent causing it to soap up and the suds escaping out thru the overflow. let the machine sit turned off for a day or so to let it dry then try the top drawer first. if that goes alright then try the bottom drawer.if you need more help please reply.also reply if you still have F1 coming up.

F1 appears both drawers are flashing and beeping can't turn off power (it turns off for a moment and then turn itself back on with F1 code, beeping and flashing) Unplugged it hoping it would reset, it did...

F1 means that the flood sensor has been tripped. Remove the bottom draw and dry the water out. Mop the majority out and use a hair dryer to get it all nice and dry. This should clear the f1. There may be underlying issues of why the unit has leaked but see how you get on.

Th dish washer that we have is the 2draw dd-603m

A lot depends on how it happened. Is this a new installation or everything was working well until now? F1 error implies the float switch in the drawers is activated as the inlet water soneloid could not turn off. This prevents the units from being flooded.

Are you using the correct pressure setting for the water supply. Check the user manual for details. IF you don't have one, download from the fisher & paykel website.

E-mail for Fisher Paykel DD603 manual

Josh, you will need to have a Tech out to look at it... F/P will not sell you parts to repair it. The F1 indicates that the flood switch has been tripped. There are many possible causes for this but probably the upper drawer link support has broken and is getting stuck between the lid and the drawer in which case you will need a new lid and link support.
