Please check the extension of the file. Also check whether you have the correct applications for the extension. If not, you may have to download the application(s).
If ur Win 98 system has been corrupted,means only the windows 98 screen appears and then a blue screen appears or after that the system dosnt start or restart follow the following steps:
1. at the time of POST (i.e when u hear the beep sound or when ur monitor shows the first displays) press the F8 key continuously . then select the option Start in Command prompt only 2. in command prompt type C:\>cd windows\sysbckup ( assuming c: is ur system or root directory) 3. then type c:\windows\sysbckup>dir *.cab 4. now select the file depending on the date closest to the date when ur system was operating fine( the file name will be like RB001.cab ) 5. now after selecting the file type in the command prompt c:\>windows\sysbckup>copy rb001.cab ..(assuming the file name as rb001.cab) 6. then type c:\windows\sysbckup> cd\ 7. then type c:\> extract rb001.cab/e 8.now restart ur pc
Sounds like your file system is GPT--Protected drive. You can either backup the information on the drive and reformat it as another partiton type or open it on windows using this program
Check the sound is not muted. (Click on speaker icon at the bottom right of your screen. Move the slider all the up with your mouse. Ensure the small box is cleared)
Also, right click on computer on the start menu and select hardware tab, and open the device manager. Look for sound device and right click on that. Check the drivers are ok for the sound chip you have. You may go to the Acer website if you can, locate support for your model and download and install fresh drivers for your OS if they can be found. Reply here if you try that and don't know how.
You may try an external speaker / headphones connected to appropriate socket on the back of your computer if it's a desktop. If you hear sound it might be that the internal speaker has gone wrong (does your computer give one beep when you turn it on ? this is telling you most things are ok including your sound system. Open a cmd window and type 'beep' the computer should beep I think)
