Usually this is part of the condenser coil used to keep the edges of your refrigerator from sweating. It is normal if all else seems ok with your refrigerator. If it is not cooling as good as it used to cool you may need to vacuum the dust, lint and hair off of the condenser under the refrigerator.

SOURCE: door frame around freezer door is very hot for a long time in side-by-side refrigerator/freezer

The problem you describe is caused by the hot gas pipe that runs around the cabinet, this is normal for it too get warm, the only reason it would be very hot is that for some reason the gases are not being cooled, probable cause is that the condenser is blocked with dust or fluff, depending on axact version some are located behind the plastic trim that runs below the doors and others are in the back behind the lower rear panel. SOURCE: WHIRLPOOL GOLD REFRIGERATOR MODEL GR2SHTXKV 02 - WATER INSIDE

Your evaporator coils frost up in normal use and every eight hours or so the entire unit shuts down and the defrost heater comes on to melt the frost. This cycle last about 20 minutes. The melted frost drips into a drain pan and through a drain tube to the drain tray under the freezer/refrigerator where it's evaporated by the condenser fan.

Your drain tube may be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little pressure with a turkey baster will usually clear it out. Flushing it out with hot water and clorox may help.
Make sure it drains quick enough to prevent refreezing. . The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the lower back of the freezer. If this repeatedly happens with yours, you may can prevent it by taking a bare copper wire and wrap it around a fin near the heater and put the other end a few inches down the drain. The heat convection may prevent it from freezing.

SOURCE: very hot frame

turn your frig off as soon as possible! this is an easy fix but if it goes to long it can cause permanent damage to the compressor and then you have a huge repair bill, or a big piece of trash :(

What has happened is this:

There is a fan called the condenser fan that blows air across the compressor to keep it cool. This fan has stopped working for some reason and now the compressor is VERY hot. When this happens it stops running and you get zero cold produced.

The reason the mullion is hot is because there is tubing connected to the compressor that is run through this area for condensation prevention purposes. When the condenser fan stops working, this tubing gets much hotter than normal, and that is what you are feeling.

So, replace the condenser fan motor before the compressor gets to hot that it damages itself! If I can be of further help please let me know, good luck friend!

Refrigerator not cold

You say refrigerator SIDE not cold? You would expect the outside panels of a refrigerator to be around room temperature or warmer as the fridge removes heat from inside the cabinet and expels it outside. If you mean the inside of the fridge is not cold then check the door seals are sealing correctly around the door frame. You could also check that there is nothing inside the fridge protruding and therefore inhibiting the closure of the door correctly.

My kenmore refrig (freezer on top) has started dripping from tube near temp control inside of frig. I think it might be related that one month ago - electric was off since not at apt for one month. Doors...

Your defroster inside the fridge may not be doing a good enough job to keep the drain from freezing up. Check to see if the drain pan is frozen over in the freezer section. I took the cover off the inside of the freezer and wrapped a piece of uninsulated 14 gauge solid copper wire around the heating element and pushed one end down the inside of the drain tube and wrapped the other end around the heating element. No problems since.

Water on btm of glass shelves and water in bottom of frig

sounds like you have a gap in the door seal, which results in condensation forming inside unit. Use a blow dryer to heat the seal around the door and ensure that the fit is tight.

Side by side makes a whistling sound--Model RS2630

I have the same frig-- The sound is coming from the litttle fan behind the frid. Take the bottom silver cover off and you will see the fan in a plactic white frame thing. Unplug it and then put a little oil inside the fan motor-- (oil based solvent). You may have to take it out of the plastic frame. To get the oil into the motor really good. Just use some 3 in 1 oil or wd-40. You will probably have to repeat this every couple of months. But it gets rid of that awful nosie. I also found that if you give the frig more air to circulate than the oil will last longer. Meaning don't put the frig so close to the wall. Oh please remember to unplug the frig first. I hope this helps.

Dometic rv refrigerator

I found that they rewired the 12 volt supply, red wire, thru a heat safety switch on the burner unit and it was open instead of being closed and cut off the main 12 volt supply to the control board. I connected a jumper wire around the new switch and the frig works . either the new switch is bad or too close to the heating unit.

Kenmoore refridgator side by side rubber gets hot

If you have a model with an energy saver switch turn the switch on. This reduces the heat to the mullion heater built into the door frame.
The door frame heater is used to prevent moisture from condensing on the seal surface around the door and acts as a thermal break between the outside and temperature inside the refrigerator.
