SOURCE: battery wont charge flashing red

Every rechargeable battery deteriorates thoughout it's life of usage. may be it's time to buy a new one. Sometimes the terminals on the battery get in touch with metal things and short the circuits within.

SOURCE: Fuji Fine Pix Z5 battery won't charge

I looked up this question with the same problem and while the battery was placed in with the right side in, the three metal tabs weren't on the right side with the three metal chargers- so I had to spin it around the other way...i hope i'm explaining this right...now it's charging! I am so glad. This camera is excellent.

SOURCE: Battery Dont Charge

jpierre's solution (in another thread) was right on the money. Touch the positive (+)end of the 9v battery to the positive (+) end of the camera battery.Leave them touching for a few seconds (10 seconds should be more thansufficient). Seems these lithium-ion batteries are subject to a'digital memory.' Subjecting it to a volt surge almost three timeshigher seems to clear it.

In short, it works like a charm.

Camera wont turn on after charging the battery

Bruce, you didn't provide a lot of information but I can tell you that the few times this has ever happened on my Nikon D-90, the battery did not charge, would not charge and I had to throw it away, or it was a charger problem.

I've had it happen when I tried to charge it on my corded Nikon Charger and I never got a charging complete indication after charging over night. When I put it in the camera, the camera indicated it was not charged even though the charger indicated it was charging. But, when I put it on a travel charger, it charged in about an hour and worked fine. The next time I put it on the Nikon charger, it worked fine.

I suggest you verify that the battery is good and charged or capable of charging. If it is, then check to make sure the battery contacts are clean both on the battery and in the camera.

If the contacts are clean and you're sure the battery is good and charged, I'd say the next step is to contact Canon. I've heard their customer service is very good.

How do you get the camera to charge? I put in new batteries and it still says battery low and shuts off. I have plugged it into the computer and it still won't charge. It won't even turn on.

Some camera will not turn on (Turn on but not take pictures etc) when you plug it in USB, it will only communicate with the camera PC suite software to transfer pictures.

Regarding the battery, if your camera has mobile phones type lithium ion batteries then you can either charge these batteries outside if you have a charger for them or put the battery in camera and plug the camera with its charger that came with it. Its just like charging mobile phone.

If your camera uses AA size (pencil cell) batteries then you will need to either buy Duracell batteries (or any other good Alkaline battery, Duracell is good) and throw them when they stop working or

Buy rechargeable AA size Ni-MH or Li-Ion batteries with charger. Charge the battery with its charger for at least 12 hours before first use or follow the instruction written on battery pack.

I think you are either using normal carbon AA size batteries that are used in clocks or toys, these will not work in digital camera.

Im trying to charge my sony np-bg1 battery with the digipower travel charger. from my understanding, in the user guide it says that when a battery is charging the light will be red. well i have the battery...

I recently purchased the same exact charger for the same exact battery....I had to slide the battery in backwards to align the positive and negative and then it should charge properly. If you slide it in the other way which seems to be the front side of the battery the light will automatically appear green same as if no battery was in the charger. This is because its not aligned to the positive and negative from the battery to the charger. Best Wishes!

Camera does not turn on.

I had a similar problem and it was a result of the battery not charging correctly. I bought the travel battery charger and an additional battery from amazon to see if maybe the battery was just old or just not charging. I figured out that the internal camera charging mechanism just wasn't working b/c the battery charged fine with the travel charger. I like the travel charger better and with two batteries I can charge one while the other is in use. I haven't had a problem since. When you buy the new battery you still have to charge it before it's first use. I hope this works for you as it did for me.
