How do I watch a DVD with this tv. It seems like it is connected right but just showing static

Hi. By static, do you mean 'snow' image ? DVD players must be connected to AV inputs and selected as an AV signal, either by using the remote control, either using the local controls in the set itself. If you see, what you call static, means that your TV is on "a" channel without areal input. (antenna inputsignal).
You can use the local TV channel button (-), go all the way down below channel 1. There the AV inputs are located. Good luck.

My 29 inch crt has sound but no picture

Sounds like a high voltage power supply problem. With the TV on, check to see if CRT has a static charge on face of screen by placing back side of hand in front of it and feel for static charge. Also you could hold a piece of tissue paper in front of the screen to see if static electricity from the CRT attracts it. If no static charge is present, the problem is more than likely in the high voltage power supply. Unless it is something simple, like a loose connection, it would probably be cheaper to replace the TV. Do not probe around in the HV power supply while the TV is on--it could prove deadly.

I also have the problem with the TV,,,,the TV uses a rf modulator box abd when your hook up the red yellow white cables to the back u get static threw the dvd,,,,any solutions....i have sound and picture...

Sounds like you are getting RF feedback... this is because it is a lower quality RF Modulator. You could try to get some "Ferrite" "Rings" or Snap on "Blocks" and put the around the cables to mitigate this, or you could try somehow making sure all the earths are good. Reorientate the RF box further away,, even try wrapping it in Aluminium Foil.

GE 32GT740 32" TV problem

there are two things that can cause this, 1 there is a muting transistor on the bottom of the PCB that is a surface mount transistor that goes short. this is the channel mute transistor. when you change channels it is designed to mute the static between channel changes. if it shorts then it mutes. 2 the EE-PROM is defective and needs to be replaced. i'de go with the transistor first. if you are unequipped to do this repair have a tech do it.

GE 31GT740 problem

Sounds like you could have a bad Picture tube, as the filaments may not be lighting, as they are open, or maybe a video problem, or perhaps a problem in the Sweep power supply. This is an inexpensive TV set and will most likely cost more to repair then you could purchase a new TV for. Good Luck

GE Model #25GT511 Power on, no picture or sound

The question I have is if the tv stays on but with no pix or sound,we have a way to check,if you place your forearm in the face of the picture tube and the hair in your arm stands up it means you have the high voltage needed to light up the tube but something else is missing like the screen voltage or it has a loose conection in the crt board,if the hair in your arm does not react to static then we are missing the high voltage and the problem might be more involved and related to the horizontal circuit not creating the high voltage needed. If you are familiar with tv service you have a few places to check but if you are not to familiar play it safe and call for assistance from a professional servicer.Let Us know how it goes please.

Tv problem

Does it like tune and detune and then retunes back to a pic all by itself??? sounds like the typical problems rca/ge sets mostly have in common with bad tuner grounds.. you must open the set remove the bottom tuner sheild and resolder all the grounds along with the little post that hold on the sheild to the tuner. Now this is not a job for the hobbiest!!! You can cause a small solder splash and ruin the set for life cause you may think that you got out that little solder splash BUt unaware to you you also have taken out some very tiny parts that look like a pieces of dirt that are surface mount resistors and capacitors.
