I have a few suggestions. The first involves contamination by liquid or food particles. I learned a long time ago that the best way to remove an organic contaminant is to use an appropriate solvent. This would be a mild detergent in warm water. Not a pressurised electronic equipment cleaner. Use a hand spray pump. First, remove the battery and disconnect the external power supply. After liberally spraying the keyboard, turn upside down and leave to dry THOROUGHLY. My second suggestion involves a possibility that the keyboard driver has become corrupted or is missing. To check this, plug an external keyboard into an available USB slot and go to control panel/ device manager. Look for the keyboard line. If it is missing or has a yellow exclamation mark you will need to update your driver. Go to the Lenovo download page and download the latest driver. My third suggestion is that the ribbon cable that connects your keyboard to the motherboard may have a bad or intermittent connection. To fix this you need to disassemble the case and gently raise the keyboard. As above, remove the external power supply and battery first. Gently prise the ribbon cable from the motherboard, spray with en electronic contact cleaner (not soapy water as above) dry and reassemble. This is not so easy. If you are not comfortable doing this, leave it to a professional. If you do feel confident, you can find several specific video clips on YouTube that will guide you.Take care. Not all published guides are authoritative.
Finally, your keyboard may be faulty, which may involve a new keyboard. Hope not. Good luck!
Cheers, Don

SOURCE: i am using a Lenovo Y500 laptop. My laptop is
Video driver has nothing to do with shutting down the laptop automatically. i am also using the lenovo laptop Y500 7761 45Q and few months back i also had the same issue.
Here is what we can try:
The problem is over heating due to excessive usuage. so keep the laptop in the cool place. also if it doesnot reslove the problem the heatsink and fan assembly needs to be replaced. It might be possible due to playing a game or due to using the computer for a very long time. turn it off give it few minutes to cool down. and then turn it on. it should fix the problem.
If this information was helpful. please rate this solution HIGH.
SOURCE: New Lenovo Y430 keyboard and touchpad does not work
I bought two y430s. I've had both y430's go bad, one at 8 months, one at 16 months. Both were motherboards. 1st on warrantied, second was not. $600 pieces of garbage.
Straight from the user guide, just discovered it today because I have also been having this frustrating problem. Use Fn + F6 - it is a toggle switch to enable and disable the Touchpad. I have a Lenovo wireless mouse now instead.
Remove ALL media, DVD, CD, USB, Shut down, unplug, remove battery, leave battery out, plug in, reboot, post results, give details. Will the laptop boot to safe mode?
