It's super easy to pair it and everything, but when I try to send a file, it gives me an error message saying "bad request". Haven't tried pics, yet, but something tells me I'll get the same result... any idea what's up?
Are you connected via bluetooth or usb and is this a phone you have connected to your apple mac and what are you using to transfer the music and pictures ?
if via bluetooth then explain what you are doing to try and synch the data , if via usb then again explain what you are doing ( when I say explain I mean step by step what you are doing and what software you are trying to use to synch the data )
on your phone ensure that anything with regards to security ie making the phone hidden or anything like that is disabled ( check the phones manuals )
When you go through the setup process click on the bluetooth icon at the top and go to setup bluetooth device and select continue and select mobile as the radio button for the device type and click on next / continue and then when it finds your mobile re add it and when it goes through the pairing process select the open method so you dont have to enter any pairing codes etc and try that.
The easiest method would be to use USB and then it will mount your phone as a disk image on your desktop and you can navigate to the correct directory on your phone or phones memory card and just copy it across ( will be a lot faster then bluetooth )
what model of phone is it and I will see if I can find anything - there is software you can get

First, merry Christmas! if you hope to
transfer files from your iphone to computer, iTunes cannot do it,
you can use some app to do that, as for me.
I used iStonsoft iPhone to computer transfer for one year, worth recommend.
but what system are you using ? PC or Mac ?
if you 're PC user, here is the method: how
to transfer music/photos from iPhone to coputer.
if you 're Mac user, sorry, I also am not familiar wtih Mac os.
hope it can help you !

I'm trying to put some good ol' mp3s on there (because I don't feel like buying them) from my computer. But when I choose the file and press send, it processes the request for about 2 seconds then says operation failed: bad request. Pictures work fine, by the way. Just checked it out. Why music doens't work too is a mystery...
bluetooth. And I'm just using the bluetooth tools they have on the mac to begin with.
mmmmmk... first, I went to the bluetooth options on my phone and went through the pairing process with my computer. Once paired, I tried connecting to it via phone, but that failed. So, in hopes of bypassing the oddity, under the bluetooth menu on my mac, I went to send file, selected my phone, and it connected easily enough. After that, I selected the file and tried to send it to the phone, but the phone said something about the connection being interrupted. After that, I tried browsing the files on my phone and addin the file that way, but once again, all I got was the *bad request* message. You wouldn't ahppen to know if they put blocks on these stupid things, would you?
can I use just any old cable?
mehhh... it's still being difficult. So do I need some special USB cable? My mac won't recognize it when I use a standard USB connection.
I think those verizon bastards just sabotaged my phone.... oh well.
I'm pretty sure it's a motorola razr v3 or G3 or whatever. Something in the 3 category.
