I have used the R6740 Go Video recorder approximatly 50 times. The disc tray opened sporadically and now it will not open at all. Does anyone have a solution?

I have this machine for a while now. Never had any problem. Used it last on Saturday but the tray will not open on Sunday. Resetting the machine does not help!

Have had this dvd recorder for approximately 3 years. Rarely use it, but now the disc tray will not open. Can't seem to find a solution for this problem in the manual. Anyone have a clue as to what I should do?

DVD door is opened by a small pulley-belt system. Disconnect the power cord and remove cover on R6740 (one screw on each side and 3 in back). Remove top cover on DVD drive (4 screws on top). Manually open door; you will see a small "O" ring sized rubber belt (they stretch and lose flexibility with time, which is why the door stops working). Remove and replace belt. I found a 11/16" X 1/16 belt at Lowe's in the plumbing dept @ 2 for $.59. Its not a perfect fit, but the door works now!

Tray won't close

Use the following steps to close the disc tray on an original Xbox 360 console.
Step 1: Remove the disc from the tray Step 2: Make sure the faceplate is on correctly
The faceplate is the plastic piece on the front of your console.
  • Press firmly around the edges of your faceplate to snap it into place (make sure it is flush with the rest of the console). If the faceplate is not on correctly, the disc tray won't close.
  • If you find that the faceplate is the problem, please contact Xbox Support to order a replacement faceplate.
If this does not resolve your issue, please try step 3. Step 3: Press the eject buttonTry closing the disc tray by pressing the eject button. If the disc tray successfully closes, open the tray and insert a disc. Now try opening and closing the tray with a disc in the tray.
Note Make sure that the disc isn't sticky and doesn't have any labels that could prevent the tray from closing.
If your disc drive still will not close, please try step 4. Step 4: Move the disc drive tray
  1. Gently move the tray up and down, and then from side to side.
  2. Press the eject button on your Xbox 360 console. If your disc drive still will not close, you need to have your console repaired.

Dvd tray will not open or play

Hello,

The reason your player keeps reading a disc and do not play is because the the disc tray is not sitting the disc properly on the lens.

The disc tray is faulty, the mechanism that controls the opening and closing of the tray is damaged and needs repair.

To fix this, you have to get the appropriate screwdriver, open the cover of the player.

You will see a mechanism by the opening of the tray that controls the disc tray.

Get a replacement mechanism and change it. Mostly the rubber slacks and does not control the tray properly.

Changing the mechanism will solve the problem.

Take care

Onkyo C-707chx cd tray jammed won't open won't play

I have the same exact problem with my Onkyo C-707CHX and I found a solution that doesn't involve jamming any screws or other metal objects into your cd tray (which could most likely just cause more damage). This way seems a little safer: Power on your device and hit the open button. As soon as you hit the open button quickly push slightly with both hands on both sides of the cd tray that should be opening. You should hear the trays moving around in there and then you have to try to feel for a slight push from the tray. As soon as you feel that slight push, take your hands off of the tray and let it come out. This has been working for me for a while now (and hopefully will continue to work until I take it to get fixed somewhere). The only issue I have run into is that my "Disc 1" open button doesn't work with this method. So I just use this method with disc 2 or 3 and then once it's open I can hit the disc 1 button to get to that tray. So if it doesn't work with one tray, try the other two as well. Hope this helps.

When a disc is loaded, it reads no disc, and disc cannot be played.

It is very possible that the lens motor has burnt out. Sometimes the capacitors on the motherborard short out causing the gear timing to go out..

The only thing you can do to fix this is to take the cover off. Get cotton swab and dip it rubbing alcohol and clean the glass laser eye with it.

Repair

if it won't open, turn off the console and remove the faceplate and try to eject the button. if it still won't open get a paper clip and straighten it out. you need to locate a small hole that exactly fits a straightened paper clip. it's located just below the silver lining of the disc tray about one and a half (1 1/2") inch from the left side of the disc tray. insert the paper clip into that hole and it should pop up the disc tray enough for you to be able to pull the disc tray all the way.

if it doesn't work there are still 2 more small holes that you can locate. the 2nd one is just beside the first hole and the 3rd one is just under the second X on the XBOX 360 text on the disc tray. try those two holes if the first hole doesn't work.

My Memorex DVD Recorder (MVDR 2102) won't open

Most likely one or more capacitors on the main board went bad. I just fixed one last night with the exact symptom.
