Can you try reset the network card and also reset the modem by pressing into the little hole on it for like 30 seconds? To reset the network adapter card, you can right click on the network connection of your LAN connection and click on diagnose if you are using Windows Vista. Then you will see the reset network adapter card option. Or you can follow the steps on the following link.

If you are using Windows 7, then the following link will include the steps about troubleshooting your network adapter card.

WPA is not very stable and I have seen many problems with this. Simply change router setting to be configured with WEP and use a good strong password in hex 0-9 and a-f . WPA is horrible any way, and who the heck is gonna sit out side your home to hack it? It is not a WIN 7 problem but more like aging encryption.

Can't connect to my home network using remote assistance with my laptop.

You don't mention what operating system you're on, and network configurations are various, but I would suggest following microsoft's guidelines for 'remote access to network'.
Here is a link to resources and another that will help you set up your network correctly for remote access, and one example: click here or here, and a troubleshooter.
If that's all too much, perhaps this link or this link will help you sort it out.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

Ping to my device via network

They are correct a lot of networks will block an echo request or a "ping" because or security and bandwidth issues. Just because your device will not pint doesn't mean its not on the network. I would check with your IT department.

Connectivity issue with our D-Link DWL-122 wireless adapter

It could be one of three problems - either the network adapter in your desktop PC has gone bad, the router or ports of the D-Link have gone bad or the cable you are using to connect the two is damaged. The wireless could continue to work if any of the three are problems.

Check that you have link lights on the back of the PC - you should see two where the network cable plugs in and one should flash when sending & receiving data. Also check that the corresponding light on the D-Link for the port you are plugged into is lit. Try different jacks on the D-Link as well.

To tell if the problem is the PC or the D-Link you need to connect another computer to the D-Link. Can you plug in the laptop (disconnect from your wireless first) and physically plug that in - if you have network connections in & out the D-Link is fine and your network card could be the problem. If no connection to the internet is available when plugged in to the D-Link your router is the problem or a setting in the network properties of the PC could be to blame (the latter unlikely if you recently reformatted).

You could continue to use the D-Link for wireless and pick up a 5-Port Switch or something similar to share the network connection - one going to your desktop PC, another line to the D-Link. This is a cheaper solution than getting a new wireless router.

I hope this helps....
