Unplug the unit and open it go for the control panel where it located, under that is the circuit board is placed cleaned it by the using of contact cleaner. Its better you resolder all solder parts joint so the board will be in good condition. Possible defect in the control board panel is the circuit board such as a cold solder joint. A cold solder joint is where a lead of a component is not soldered at a high enough temperature and results in a bad electrical connection which can respond to physical shock and thermal stress.Due to time, heat, use, some solder joints would be cracked or loose. It is possible that the cold solder is still minimally connected (hanging by a thread). When the circuit board turns on heat would be generated which would be sufficient to further loosen up the solder joint to the point it no longer provides electrical contact. Jarring the unit creates movement inside enough to re establish the contact, sometime good enough sometimes not enough.A solder joint may also be broken or cracked because the unit is bang or hit. Look on the front and back of the board along the defective circuit to see any components that look like they are not soldered effectively or the solder connection is cracked or broken. A cold solder joint looks dull and/or bulging unlike the smooth and shiny normal solder joints. Then seeking a more experienced buddy for the soldering works might be your advantage. This is of course in addittion to possible electrical shock hazards when repairing..If you're not electrically experienced with troubleshooting electronics, I strongly suggest look for professional serviced or bring it a fined electronics shop...
Good luck:

I did try pulling the oven fuse for more than 15 minutes and when I put it back in, the problem seemed solved. But this morning, with no oven on and just using one element on top of stove, the same problem started again, so I have pulled the fuse again till I get more suggestions.
I called a repairman who said the moisture and heat over the 15 years we have had the stove caused a fault in the electronic controls for the self-clean feature - not the control pad circuit board on the top of the stove but another circuit board behind the stove and halfway down. He said they don't make that part any more. We've decided to just get a new stove. Thx for trying.
