I have this same model fridge. So I would say start with the simple fix first. First check to see if your freezer gasket is still holding fast. You can usually see if the gasket is broken. Without a good seal temp will be a problem. The seal is a $120.00 part. It could just be the Thermistor. It regulates the temp in the freezer compartment. If the freezer gets slammed shut frequently enough it can fail early. The thermistor is a $35.00 part. It requires only that you gently loosen it with plastic putty knife. You can use a metal ***** driver but if you slip you can scratch the wall. Lift the old thermistor out and then press the new one into place. It is located on the back wall of the freezer. The most difficult thing is unplugging the refrigerator before you start. Because this is a built unit it would require a great deal of work by two large men. So make it easy on yourself. Get a good strong flash light. Go to the fuse box and turn off the 15 amp breaker. Do your thermistor switch exchange and turn the power back on. It can take 24 hours for a freezer this size to get cold again so leave the thing closed.

The High Temp alarm on our Viking went off, it's 30F in the freezer, it should be 0F. I hit the Max Cool to see if that helps, not yet. There is still a red light under High Temp. What else can I do?

It is possible the Freon gas is low. You should get a professional person to check it out. You could have a small leak in one of the lines. If its an older unit might cost too much to repair. Your repair man should be able to tell you.

2006 Viking VUAR 141 bar fridge not cooling enough

The thermistor is looking for a very cold temperature before shuting off for the cycle defrost to work correctly. Thus if if shuts off early I would suspect the thermistor or the potentiometer. The pot is connected to terminals # 6 and 7 and should have a resistance over 90K-ohms when set to the coldest position. The thermsitor should have a resistance of 5.6K-ohms at 0 C and near 2.2 at 20 C. The control rarley fails but if it has been recently replaced the DIP switches (there are four of them) may be in the wrong position. If they are in question, try talking to technical customer service at Marvel (they made the unit). Their number is 800-223-3900. Your Viking VUAR 141 should be the same as their 60AR. The thermsitor is usually the most troublesome component but usually fails in the opposite way causing the unit to run too cold.

PS does the cooling fan shut off the same time as the compressor? if not, then the compressor overload is the issue...the the temperature control. If both shut off and on at the same time then you are on the right track.

Good Luck - Subdriver

I have two ptac units, both want to run 5 or 6 mins. and cut off

Make sure there is nothing in front of the units, Chair, Couch ect, if you take the cover off the Units, you will see a little black Thermoster attached to the coil.
If the air bounces back off of something then it will cool that Thermoster and shut the unit down before the desired room temp is acualy reached.
Also make sure your Thermastat control knob is turned far enough to the right so that its asking for more cooling, Or desired temp.

Hope this helps.

Good Luck!

Norcold fridge not cool enough

Yes very likely the cooling unit has stopped working. You need to do a bypass test by unplugging the thermistor on the inside of fridge. It will be attached to the fins. Give it 6 hours or so and check your temps. If they are the same the cooling unit is bad. If the temp goes down the thermistor or circuit board is bad. If you need more assistance feel free to call.

Is there by any chance a cool air duct or register, or maybe return air duct near the thermostat, or perhaps on opposite wall,(behind it) that may be throwing it off? Have you tried just draping a small towel or facecloth over it to see if that changes anything? I've had one that acted similar in a 12 wide, and it turned out to be that the return air was directly behind it, and caused cool air to rush in around hole for wiring of thermostat, causing it to kick in & out about every 5 minutes. Heard a whistle when I was checking thermostat, and a light went on in my head. Plugged the hole up good & all was well. have you tried this number & link to contact tech assitance at dometic for some advice on it? Phone 1-800-544-4881 and ask for technical assistance. Viking VCBB363RSS Fridge Orange High Temp light on

I am not sure if I have the same model, but the VIKING fridge that I purchased in Chicago is a stainless steel bottom freezer design that is horrible. I paid alot for it and it looks great on the outside - like a pretty girl that has nothing to say.....The alarm goes off constantly and tonight the freezer wasn't working! This thing is not even 5 years old and my GE fridge in the basement that I use to store drinks for the pool and things that I don't want to spoil is probably 40 years old (I got it from my parents and has NEVER been a problem). What is up VIKING? Where are your engineers??

Fan keeps running

freezer fan runs when freezer calls for cooling
ref fan runs when fridge calls for cooling
condenser fan up top runs with compressor
lower unit condensate fan runs with compressor
fans should not be noisy
control monitors temp and will give alarm if temp rise
please contact viking as your fridge may have a safety recall on door hinges

Fridge not cooling

evidently the fan that runs in the freezer and blows air into the main fridge has a circuit issue or the fan is frozen, but if the bulb does not work then its a circuit issue. likely on the same circuit as fan.
