Unfortunately there is no easy fix. Removing the CMOS battery does not work nor are there jumpers on the MB. The only way to get it reset is to go to an authorized Toshiba dealer or repair facility and have them do it. This is going to cost you since normally it is not covered under warranty.

remove the keyboard the mobo battery is there you need to unsolder one end of it, lift the leg, and turn it on that way for it to clear.. you will have to resolder once done.. have the skills or find someone that does... and you're set..

SOURCE: forgot password for bios

Hi Arthur Clarke,

Did you set the BIOS password for your notebook or was it set automatically by the computer? Anyway, to solve this problem, you may need to bring out your system to a near Toshiba ASP.

If you need further assistance or information regarding your problem, call Toshiba Tech Support (800-457-7777). Hope this helps.

How to unlock toshiba satellite laptop BIOS and HDD

If you are the original owner Toshiba will reset the bios for a fee and it is not cheap, they may include the HDD reset, if not! www.ebay.com type password, or hard drive password. I would check bios password, probably a lot cheaper if you can find the right seller, also check www.download.com some software may be free.

Bios password

Removing the cmos and replacing will not work, Toshiba uses an 8 pin surface mount epprom chip where the imformation is stored, removing power will not work. If you are the original owner of the laptop, Toshiba will reset the bios password for a fee " $100.00 " the only other option is to replace the epprom chip "available on ebay" but it is so small you will need somebody who is familiar with this type of work. The third option is sellers on ebay claim they can address this, be very carefull, not all can deliver.

I have just purchased a shop soiled Toshiba L300D and the bios password has been changed and nobody knows what it is. How do I recover/remove it?

The BIOS password maybe able to be removed provided this laptop had a LPT printer port.

BIOS Update Problem

If your laptop is only 3 months old it should be covered by warranty with Toshiba, the best course of action would be to consult them regards this issue.
