I'm just an old West Virginia **** , but I was always told to trim trees in months that have an "R" in them... i.e. OctobeR, NovembeR....you get the idea, right?

If the larger pot has sufficient space for the roots you shouldn't need to trim them but using your fingers to carefully loosen them would be helpful. If you do have to trim the roots do it carefully. Be careful not to shock the tree by moving it to a different location or letting it dry out until the root system has had time to re-establish in the new pot.
Quick answer no. You must adhere to several rules. Correctly prune at the collar. Never prune when the branches are wet. Make sure tool blades are clean and this tree should be trimmed in the late winter.

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Trim Panel, Door
Front Removal
Remove door latch cover by prying from top edge and pulling trim free of retaining clips and sliding trim away from latch.
Remove portion of armrest containing door lock switch and window regulator control switch (14529) by pulling straight up.
Remove rear view outside mirror mounting hole cover assembly by prying at top and pulling upward to release double-sided clip.

Cover Assembly Rear View Outside Mirror Mounting Hole
Remove screw attaching front door trim panel (23942) to front door (20124) under switch plate.
Remove two screws located at bottom of front door trim panel.
Disconnect the door lock switch (14028) and window regulator control switch electrical connectors.
Remove door window regulator handle if equipped by unsnapping and pivoting away the handle cover from base to expose retaining screw. Remove screw from the door window regulator handle.
Pull front door trim panel from the top to release hooks from front door .
Remove front door trim panel.
Installation
Replace any bent or damaged fasteners.
Follow removal procedure in reverse order.
Body Side Removal
Remove door handle retaining clip by sliding a shop towel between handle and door trim. With tension on the cloth, pull one end of the cloth so it slides between the handle and the door trim. If handle does not come out, reverse direction.
Unfasten 13 christmas tree fasteners using double-acting spring-loaded trim removal tool and pull body side trim panel from body side door.
Remove forward and rearward mating sections from under window trim.
Installation
Replace all christmas tree fasteners.
Follow removal procedure in reverse order.
For installation of handle, install clip to handle, then push handle onto shaft to snap in place.
Back Removal
Disconnect rear window defroster wires.
Remove the liftgate window garnish moulding as described.
Remove screws attaching liftgate handle to liftgate and liftgate inside trim panel.
Using Rotunda Windshield and Moulding Trim Removal Kit 107-R0401 or equivalent, pry pushpins retaining liftgate trim from the liftgate.
Roll the window up all the way and start removing the interior door trim. First make sure you have removed ALL the screws out of the trim, if it seems hard to let go then you've missed some.
In 2000 chev made the new body truck and classic C/K. The C/K's trim is surrounded by little X-mas tree plugs which need to be pryed out but are reusable. The new body style HOOKS to the doors sheet metal, just slide the trim up the door, making sure you've removed all the screws.
After the panels of there's just a thin piece of vapor barrier that you can peal away to see the linkage and snap it back into place.
