SOURCE: NO VISTA AUDIO DRIVER FOR ASUS P5GL-MX MOTHERBOARD

First off, go into BIOS at boot (hold del key) and make sure that your onboard sound is switched on.

Then check your device manager (control panel/device manager) to see if it identifies your sound chip.

Use right click/update driver/search online to see if microsoft can find it for you. If not, it is very likely a Realtek AC97 chip or similar. Search for this driver and go on from there.

SOURCE: No Audio Output Device is

This is Intel's link for downloads, however, your board does not seem to have support past Win XP, if you have upgraded to Vista or Windows 7, you are probably expieriencing compatabilty problems between the older software:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Desktop+Boards&ProductLine=Intel%c2%ae+845+Chipset+Family+Boards&ProductProduct=Intel%c2%ae+Desktop+Board+D845GVSR
You have Realtek ALC202A with AC97 codec for sound so you can try here:
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/
Make sure you go to your device manager and check in "sound, Audio and game controllers", to make sure you device is "enabled".

Audio output device

Hi.

The audio output device in your computer is the audio adapter board (or circuit). This is the device that produces sounds and send them to the speakers.

If you get a message telling you that there is no Audio Output Device detected, or that the Audio Device is not working, that usually means that there is a problem with the audio driver.

In that case the problem is often fixed downloading and reinstalling the drivers for your audio device. If there is a problem with the audio output device, go to the computer manufacturer website (e.g. Dell, HP, Sony etc.) and download the audio drivers for your specific model. When download is complete install the drivers and restart the computer.

Regards.

Dell e520 running Vista fully updated has no sound

Depending on the audio hardware configuration, you may have a hardware conflict.

If you have an expansion sound card (Usually a Soundblaster card in the slots below the video card) then you need to ensure the integrated audio in BIOS is DISABLED.

If you have no expansion card, then ensure the BIOS Audio device is ENABLED.

If integrated and no device found in Device Manager, turn it off in BIOS, reboot then reenable it and see if it is detected.

If issue still continues, try flashing the BIOS and see if that resolves. If no change, you may end up getting an expansion audio card or resintalling Windows to resolve.

I own a TXSR 727 and the unit does not play and the message PROTECT appears on the face??

This means that the unit detected a problem in the output section and has shutdown to prevent further damage. Check for crossed speaker wires. If the unit continues to show the message with the speakers completely disconnected, then the problem is internal and is likely to be shorted output transistors. The repair cost for this will be in the $20-$50 range for parts.
