Unable to get any sound on my presario 700, have windows 7 loaded.

if can not get sound, right click on my computer icon and take properties. then click on hardware from the dialog box, click on device manager. move to sound and click on the + sign beside. if audio controler is highligted in red it means the audio drivers are not installed. installed or update this drivers. if not, click on start, move to control panel and click on sound and audio devices. Check if the volume has been mute.if so, unmute it and you will be able to get your sounds

I have a compaq presario and have lost all sound. The speaker icon has an x in it and when I right click it says no output device installed.

After reinstalling/installing an Operating System you can lose the Audio Drivers or sometimes they just corrupt.. Try reinstalling the Audio Drivers from the disk provide with your P.C./Laptop. If you no longer have the disk just visit the website of the makers of your P.C./Laptop or Motherboard and download the Audio Drivers from there, after that install them.
Thumbs up please if this works for you, thanks.

The volume on my computer is not working

Try installing the audio driver again, if you do not have this driver on a CD, then you need to download the drivers from the Compaq/HP WEB support/download page. Make sure you select your model laptop and the XP or Vista Windows version of the drivers you require and install them. Click on this link to download the drivers: -

No output device installed is appearing at the bottom with cross sign on volume control

Hi

Either the sound drivers of your laptop needs to be re-installed or there might be a problem with speakers in your laptop, however please try to install the drivers again.
