This could simply be old direct thermal labels. Direct thermal labels have a shelf life of about 1 year from the date of manufacture. After that time has lapsed the thermal coating on the labels begins to dissipate and this will cause labels to print light or faded. You can trouble shoot with a roll known to be fresh. You can get one free here to test Labeldomain com .

Your software drives this...not the printer. What software are you using to print the labels?

Many factors affect print quality: Heat settings, speed setting and label face stock quality and type are a great place to start. How old is your printer? How many labels have been printed through it (there is an odometer that tells your this on the config label). Is the printhead dirty? Use > 90% isopropyl alcohol on a cotton ball or microfiber cloth to gently clean the printhead.
I would start by checking the heat and speed settings in the driver - crank up the darkness and crank down the speed a notch or two at a time until you get the print quality that you are looking for. If all of this fails, you may need a new printhead (not too easy to replace on this model). Printheads are made up of an array of resistors. These can loose their electrical resistance over time and require more energy (controlled by the darkness setting) to get the same results as a new printer. Printheads, like labels and car tires are considered a consumable commodity.

I assume by double tags you mean 2 labels across the roll.
You need to tell your software that the roll is 2 across.
If using the software that comes with the printer, Zebra designer.
Set your label width to twice the single label and copy the barcode so that you have 2 across the label, then print

Try another roll of labels? If that doesn't help, it may have a problem with the sensor that checks the starting point of the label. These are old so it's easy and cheap to replace with a similar unit.
