how do i reinstall the software.

You mean that it only takes DVD's but no type of CD correct. DVD/CD Roms tend to wear out at times. It best to get yourself a new one. It can be that the sessor or needle to the rom is damaged. But first try to get a external DVD/CD to see if the software might be the conflict. You can also reinstall the software and try to burn once again.

Why cant I write onto my blank DVD disk I have windows XP and DVD R in my DELL writable drive.Im trying to copy about 1 gig of JPEGS onto the disk. The disc is MAXELL 4.75 GB DVD R. Im using windows XP....

It doesn't matter what name or brand the disc is. All it matters that it is a writable disc. If you had aldready written previous files on that DVD disc and then it was compiled, it wont write again. When the computer requests to compile a disc, say no, otherwise you wont be able to write more data on the same disc. The same goes if you have selected a CD to burn. There are 3 ways to do so. Try copy and paste, drag and drop the file to the DVD icon or CD icon, or right click on the file to be burned and select 'Send to...' choose the DVD drive, (D:), see what happens.

Burning printable cds

I believe it means one of two things:
1: After burning a writable disc, it is not recommended to leave it in writable mode. You should finalize it so it can play on other players.

2: It said that it doesn't recommend burning RE-writable CDs. They tend to be much less reliable than writable ones.

Dimension E510 dvd burner will not burn

Go to this link and click on the Fixit box. Microsoft has an issue with CD/DVD recognition and created a patch. This happens a lot when Windows Update runs and installs SP3. Hope this solves your problem. If it doesn't, right click on your DVD drive and ensure that recording is enabled. Hope this solves your recording issue.

My sony optiarc AD-7540A wont burn but read norrmaly

If the CD is not a writable disc, it will not burn. Sometimes certain CDs will never burn at all. Some CDs can burn once and only once ever. Be careful when burning and make sure to burn right the first time. Check with your CD's maker for specific details.

My cd is well ....i have no idea

Sounds like a tough problem to have because half of the CD drive is working fine (the reading part) but half isn't (the writing/burning part).

Here are a few suggestions:

1) try a different CD writing program, if the Wizard says the CD-Rs are full, try a version of Nero or a freeware burning program.

2) if, when you load the blank CD, Windows says that it's unable to burn it, it might not be a CD that your burner can recognize. If you are using different or new CDs, try another one or borrow someone else's blank CD. I've had it happen where a set of CDs that I bought were bad and couldn't be used. Also, some cheap CDs don't work on some CD burners.

3) It might be a bad CD drive. If it's an older computer, you might have to get a new CD drive. Before doing this, I'd try reinstalling the software and drivers for your CD burner and try both the suggestions from above. Good luck
