Sounds like the timer motor is fried. Remove it, connect it to a 110/120 volt power source and listen to it. If you can hear it running, then that's cool. Next, move the selector switch to the next mode manually and see of your machine responds to that. If it does, then the motor for the timer needs to be replaced, it probably lacks the torque needed to move the selector switch around.

SOURCE: Will not drain or spin

Unless you jarred the machine it's the timer. You can check this by bypassing the lid switch and seeing if it will cycle.

The washing machine doesn't come on when switched on at power point. No lights or sound at all. The fuse to the power point is all good. Machine was working fine the last wash load. Tashina

It doesn't work at all If your washer doesn't seem to work at all, check these:

No power
Lid switch
No power Check to see whether power is getting to the washing machine. Is it plugged in? Has a fuse blown or is a circuit breaker tripped?

Lid switch If the lid switch is defective, your washer can't spin and may not function at all. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washer to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.

Some machines have a special lid-switch fuse near the lid switch, inside the control panel. If this fuse blows, the unit won't fill with water until you replace the fuse.
check out this.

Washer will not fill with water

Check the lid switch...this controls all power to the machine and if the lid isn't closed, it can interrupt the water fill even with the lid appearing to be closed. Press firmly on the center of the lid when it's closed. Sometimes the lids on these maytags get tweaked a little and then don't allow full contact with the switch... Let me know ..
