When you turn the TV on with the u verse as the source the sound will not play, you have to turn the TV on and off or change the input back and forth to get sound to play. There is no firmware upgrade for the LG.

Unplug power cord- safety first!
open backcover
check powersupply- top center right is p.s.
top left side of powersupply you'll see 5 capacitor 3300uF 10V.
see any pop up on top? replace it All with same rate or 16v is O.K.
do not use temperature rate 75c. Use 105C.
if you know how to solder. you could save $300 at least!

It may be a firmware issue if hdmi works with other items such as playstation.
If no hdmi the main Pcb hdmi ports are bad and the main Pcb would have to be replaced.
Consumers cannot upgrade the firmware so a shop would be the only option.
