Won't get cold anymore

My 1994 camper has a Dometic RM 2310 refrig and ice box that operates off 110 V AC or propane. It has been getting slower to get cold over last few years and this past holiday weekend it would not get cold at all- on 110V or propane. Is this something I can fix or will I need a service man??

Good thinking... you need to hire a service technician (a good one!). Too many jackasses think they know these systems. Obviously, there's something wrong with the system.. if so, you need someone who knows what they're working on/with.

Question: I have a trailer camper it has a Dometic Rm 2652 Ameri. refrig.

If I remember right on those, the system works off 12 volt--120 volt-- or propane (LP gas). have you tried one of the other power source to run it off of?? If you get the same type cooling results the problem is probably a small leak in the freon system. Those use special internal gas. When I worked for GE the only way to fix them was to replace the complete cooling system which came pre-charged with the special internal gas. Quite expensive after the warranty. Now if you switch power source and one of the other sources make it work the problem will be with the type power you were using when it failed to cool properly. Many people that had system problems with those camper type refrigerators removed them and installed a small regular dorm style refrigerator that could only be run off a 120 volt power system. You would need a 12 volt to 120 converter to run it while on the road if thats what you want to do.

My Dometic RM2652 in my camper isn't getting cool enough when it's set on electricity. It feels cool, but not cold. The ice in my freezer turned to water, but it was still cold. The refrigerator section is...

Sounds like maybe your element for Heating when on hydro may be faulty. A voltage check at spades on board connected to element will confirm. If power to element but no heat felt at element should confirm it's faulty. Remember, if stack is already hot from propane, element will also feel hot, so it has to be out or fridge cooled down at back first.(off)

I have a mid 70's Dometic RM 211 refrigerator in my camper. The screen on the propane burner has been damaged and needs to be replaced. Parts no longer exist from Dometic. What size wire mesh do you...

Hi Brian,

You don't want to use a screen that is made to fit. The original part was designed for a specific flame. That being said, colaws rv salvage may have a replacement burner in stock, and you can also try calling up a company that rebuilds cooling units for rv fridges.

Our Dometic RM2193 cools on gas but does not work on electric

It could be as simple as a blown fuse at the fridge. Also check to make sure you have turned on the electric switch that allows the fridge to run on AC. Note, you can only operate the fridge on EITHER gas OR electric, but not both sources at the same time, thus, you have to turn off the gas switch before you can run on electric.

When this unit is running on electricity, it has to have the thermostat set for it to run.

Here's a link to the Dometic manual for your model.

Just follow the steps for running on electric and you should be OK.
Hope this helps.
