I have a Dometic RV fridge that wont get cold. It is a model RM 2401. It easily lights on gas, the coils get hot and it makes a little gurgling noise but does not get cold. Can this be recharged?

My 1987 dometic rm2600 works on electricity but not on gas. No light shows.

It is more then likely just a dirty orifice. The orifice is located just before the burner. It is a brass fitting that screws into the burner. It can be cleaned by removing it and soaking it in rubbing alcohol for a half hour then blowing it out. Do not poke anything through it! One cleaned try the fridge again, if this does not cure the problem then it is more then likely your thermostat that has failed. These thermostats are still available. They are a dometic dual stat and can more then likely be found on Ebay for around $100. When operating on Electric, if the rear of the cooling coils get warm and the fridge is level, but the refrigerator does not get cold then it is more then likely your cooling unit that has failed. G'day I have a Dometic RM4605,184LT FRIDGE, AES what setting on gas would you have the fridge set. Settings are between 1 to 5 for max cold in the fridge I did run the fridge for two hours on number 4 setting but it was still 10 degrees in the fridge and -0 in the freezer.

Dometic refrigerator RM 2652 is not working

The fridge needs a 12 volt DC source to operate properly, which should be connected at the back of the fridge, outside behind cover. Check all fuses in your fuse panel as well. The upper controls are powered by 12 volt DC system, and that's what tells the fridge what to do.. (battery or converter)

Just bought a tent trailer with a Dometic Fridge.

You need to make sure that you follow the manufacturer's recommendations for using the unit with each specific power source. It's important that you have the all switches in the proper position, based on what power source you're using.

Here's the manual for your model, save a copy and print it out and take some time to review the section #3 Operating Instructions on page 6.

I also had the same Model Make. I removed my fridge and placed it upside down, occasionally shaking fridge within a 24 hr period. This seemed to re-mix the ammonia solution and the fridge is working.
This may work for you but look for yellow stains if you see any your fridge is leaking and would require repair.

It sounds like your cooling unit is going out. Here's a couple of things to check. Do you smell any ammonia when you open either one of the doors? When you look at the rear of the fridge, do you see anything that looks like rusty water that has run down any of the metal tubes and dried up? If the answer to either one of these is "yes", then youll need to start looking for a new fridge or replace the cooling unit on the one that you have.

No ammonia smell or rust colored anything in the back of the cabinet.

I agree that you need to remove it and flip it upside down for a day, then flip it rightside up for a day then repeat. after the second go around, and you let it set for a day, reconnect it and see if the ammonia has mixed the crystals that have separated.
