Hi, Its symptom of weak lamp that reaches to end of its working hours life span. If lamp has not been replaced in last 2-3 years then replace it to fix tv problem. Lamp replacement procedure is easy and written in user manual. Please buy Sony original lamp for good picture in tv. Thanks.

I just purchased a replacement lamp off ebay and the TV is working fine now. Color looks better too (which I guess I should have expected). Search for "REPLACEMENT LAMP SONY XL-2100U" on eBay and look for seller "niosales". I paid $129 out the door. Their are other auctions for this lamp you can check out. Make sure you look at lamps that include the entire lamp housing, not just the bulb.
