SOURCE: I just aquired a sega megadrive 2 with all leads

First plug the power plug into the mega drive and turn it on (there should be a red light showing that the megadrive is on)

Plug RF lead into the back of the mega drive and TV and make sure the switch is set at the megadrive side and not the ariel side, if you have a switch.

Now turn off mega drive, put a game into the slot and and then turn the console on.

Select a channel on your TV and tune it into the mega drive.

This should work.

You can still just hook it into the incoming cable connection. Hope this helps! Good luck!

SOURCE: Sega megadrive 2 that wont load

Just keep fiddling with it. I kept messing with the video cable, where it plugs into the back of the console. I got the "Licensed by Sega, etc." message for a few seconds before it went black again, turned it off, pulled out the cartridge then slammed it back in. Now all of the few carts I own are working with the console.

SOURCE: Hi i have a sega

I think those have the old style RF connectors.A coaxial cable with a grey or black box in the connection cable.Plug the coaxial cable from outside into the RF cable.Plug the RF cable into the TV coaxial input(regular cable input). On the back of the Sega, there should be a switch for CH3 or CH 4.Put the TV on the appropriate channel. If the signal looks bad, switch the selector on the Sega and change the TV channel. If you do not have the RF cable there is a place that still sells Sega accessories, but not Sega. They must have contracted with Sega.If you need the site let me know.
Good luck!

How do i connect a sega mega drive 2 to a tv?

use the RF lead (plugs into the mini din at the back of the megadrive)
if you don't have the lead you might want to look at ebay for a replacement
of if you don't want the hastle of tuning your megadrive into your tv you could buy a scart lead from www.retro-cache.com

How do I set up a sega genesis?

here we go
This is a step by step with testing set up for the sega mega drive

first plug the power plug into the mega drive and turn it on (there should be a red LED light)

plug RF lead into the back of the TV and make sure the switch is set at the megadrive side and not the ariel side, if you have a switch. (or you can buy scarts from www.retro-cache.com)

Now turn off mega drive, put a game into the slot and and then turn the console on

Select a channel on your TV and re-tune it into the mega drive. (on some TV's the tuneing is around the C36 area if that is any help)

If you tune into a blank screen than turn the mega drive off, remove the game, clean it and replace the game and try again.

With my sega megadrive11 system when tuned in only sound comes no picture

Hi Wisebear,

First It maybe your TV not tuning in properly.
to try this go to your TVs Tuning menu and select manual tuning and fine tune around the sound and see if this helps...

second it may be the lead (worn wire) and not enough signal getting through, so you need a new cable

you may just want to upgrade to a scart lead
www.retro-cache.com
sells the scart lead for Megadrive 2's and soon will be doing Megadrives 1's as well, both RGB.
