Sega Dreamcast Console Questions & Answers
No video/audio when trying to play Dreamcast
It's not moving the mainboard that causes problems to happen. Alot of people don't know but the screws inside the Dreamcast that hold the mainboard down are different sizes and there is a place where a longer screw isn't supposed to go and it will go in to far and touch the mainboard and cause problems. But that's besides the point of your question but could have been done before. There could be a bad capacitor or a break in the solder joint where the AV port is at also. Btw, I’m available to help over the phone in case u need at

make sure the games are clean and the video cable is good but it could be the reader/lens.
Dreamcast cuts out after or during the startup
This is probably the most ridiculous thread I've ever read in regards to the most common fault of the Sega Dreamcast. The issue is not with the laser - if it was unable to read the disc, it wouldn't read the disc.
The issue is actually with the pins that connect to the motherboard. They corrode and burn out over time. This can be fixed by cleaning with a high percentage alcohol.
Make sure you have unplugged and turned off the console for a couple of hours beforehand.
And before you open it up, press the on button to check for any remaining power.
Instructions are here http://www.mmmonkey.co.uk/dreamcast-random-reset-and-common-fixes/
It will play music, but not the game. it keeps
Hi,
Looks like your Dreamcast can't read the game properly either due to damaged disc or the dreamcast GD rom is not working properly. try recalibrating the GD rom using this guide: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTMSRfEqWAU

My controller wont work for the sega dreamcast.
well its a blown controller port resistor common issue and let me tell you I just happen to have a bunch laying around there is either two ways we could do this if you are willing to pay shipping I can send you the part needed and then instructions on how to fix it or you can send me the controller port and I will fix it and send it back (if you pay shipping) since the controller port is small shipping wouldnt be much and I can tell you this its more common then not to have this issue.
let me know and we will get this fixed for you.
I just bought a dreamcast off ebay.
controller circuit board problem,,internal battery needs to be replaced, it blue and looks like a watch batt,,it is marked in the controller board as BT1.
Also on the controller board is a resistor or transistor marked F1 that needs to be replaced. You will need to do some soldering but it's not that difficult. They are colour coated so make sure you get the right one. They are very cheap and the battery can be picked up at walmart for under 10$
Hi will my uk sega
Hi! No it won't but theres a place in manila where you can have it modified/converted. Try to visit VIRA MALL in Greenhills, San Juan Manila. They got stuffs there that can make it work. Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!
I was given a sega
If I recall the Sega Dreamcast wheel is a clasp type wheel. You need to push the disk down onto the wheel and you will hear it secure itself onto the wheel. Then close the wheel and you should be good to go. Don't just place it on the wheel... push it down until you here that little clicking sound and it should stay on the wheel.
DC doesn't go past set date screen.
try charging the console for about 30 minutes
the console has a rechargeable battery inside that needs to be charged
if the main menu keeps on moving on the background most probably the fusible resistor on the controller board is busted it has to be replaced
Door lid switch will not
It sounds like the small clip that holds the lid shut from the inside has either snapped off or has become dis-lodged. Check around the inside of the unit, where the lid closes for the location. If the small plastic clip has broken off you may find it hard to repair due to it's small size and location. I hope this helps
I go to play a
Hello there. From what you are describing it does not sound like the issue is with your DreamCast. I would check the disc in question for any fingerprint, dirt or other debris and clean it regardless with water or a lens cleaning solution and wipe dry with a microfiber cloth or other (soft material). Wait for the disc to fully dry before reinserting. The only other thing I can think of but unlikely is laser burning on the disc which can cause some mild warping or marring. I only mention this since the DreamCast system has been obsolete for quite some time the game you are playing is more than likely well used. I hope I was helpful but if you have any more questions please feel free to ask.
