My dvd will not eject. Disc plays fine. I push the eject button and the screen says 'Open' for a few seconds, then "load' appears.

Jammed.
Straighten one end of a Norwegian paper-clip.
Insert that end into the small hole in the face-plate.
Push until you feel resistance.
Firmly push another 5mm to "unlock" it.
Then, press OPEN.

SOURCE: DVD won't eject

Same problem - same solution. I have tried to verify if there is too much movement in the tray (vertical) but it is a random issue with mine..... except now I can't get system to recognize I want to load DVD instead of tape! See separate thread.

SOURCE: Disc Error, and DVD tray ejecting on it's own....

If it is new, best advice is to take it the Comapny Service Centre, as you are having Warranty.

SOURCE: DVD player freezes

If it's a very cheap unit, it's possibly because the machine can't process the information quickly or efficiently enough, thusly causing the picture to freeze up while the processing catches up with it. Friend has a $30 unit, which happens to constantly.

SOURCE: DVD Eject tray stuck

Your problem is more than likely mechanical. There is a belt that makes connection between the motor and the loading mechanism. Take the unit apart. Remove the belt it is probably in the front. Clean the belt and pullies with denatured alcohol. reassemble. The best solution is to replace the belt but this may get you working till you get one. Belt sources http://www.mcmelectronics.com/

SOURCE: DVD Stuck in Player

While the above problem is not in the manual, I would try pushing and holding down the Open/Close buttton for an extended period to see if the unit will 'unlock' itself.

Does not play when disc entered nor when play is selected. (XD-E500KB)

Hello

Push in the plug connected to the "Video Out" jack on the rear of the Dvd to ensure it is connected firmly. Check the connection at the back of the TV as well.

Press the "Source" or "Input" button on the TV remote to verify the television's input is set to the DVD connection.

Press the "open/close" button on the front of the DVD to open the disc tray. Insert and test different DVDs to determine if the problem is with a specific disc, or if the player will not operate.

Eject the DVD tray and insert the DVD laser lens cleaner. Close the tray and wait a few seconds for the cleaning disc to load. Press "Play" on the front control panel to spin the disc through the cleaning cycle.

Remove the cleaning disc, insert a DVD and test playback operation. If the machine still will not play discs, the main receiver unit may require internal repairs best left to an experienced technician.

Dvd in player but display says no disk

Check the regional code of the DVD you want to play. It is at the back of the DVD cover. It should be compatible with the regional code which your DVD player can play. If they are not tallying the disc will not be read

Hi -- my toshiba SD3990 model DVD player won't

Your DVD player is fu.k.d up.  These things are made so cheap now a days that it is more trouble to try to fix the thing, than going out and buying a new one.  You can try running a disc head cleaning kit through it first to see if that helps.

Our Hitachi camcorder will not eject the disc out of our camcorder. My daugther's school project is on this disc & she needs it for tomorrow project.

Had the same issue before. Here is how I solved it
Remove battery; open LCD screen2.gif;hold in reset button a few seconds; reconnect battery; set to "off" and eject .... out pops a very dirty DVD-RW.

When I reinsterted it the problem recurred and I solved it the same way. I have now permenently removed the offending DVD2.gif and the cover opens and closes fine. I will buy some fresh DVDs this weekend and see if the problem returns.

When a disc is loaded, it reads no disc, and disc cannot be played.

It is very possible that the lens motor has burnt out. Sometimes the capacitors on the motherborard short out causing the gear timing to go out..

The only thing you can do to fix this is to take the cover off. Get cotton swab and dip it rubbing alcohol and clean the glass laser eye with it.

Stuck cd discs

I think there are a couple of faults here. The first one is maybe a faulty motor on the eject mechanism. The second one is a faulty laser unit as it is not scanning the disc. Hope this helps.

Upside down dvd inserted

FYI - This might damage the unit, but if you really need to get that DVD out then you can try this at your own risk!

Try unpluging the unit, then plug it back in and press the power button and a split second later press the eject button. This all needs to be done quickly otherwise the unit will try to load the disc.

Or

You can try letting the unit load the DVD. When the unit says "Please eject disc. Playback feature may not be avalible on this disc," press the eject button.
