Different DVDs freeze while playing, at random times (the picture is still like a photo). They may continue after a few seconds on their own, or pushing "play" unlocks the freeze. Have cleaned discs, and used a commercial cleaner disc to clear the lens, without success.
Appreciate suggestions. Thanks.
If it's a very cheap unit, it's possibly because the machine can't process the information quickly or efficiently enough, thusly causing the picture to freeze up while the processing catches up with it. Friend has a $30 unit, which happens to constantly.

it might be the programs your using to burn your dvds try using windows dvd maker if you have the operating system vista or convert x to dvd if you have xp that should work
First of all,if you are using rental dvds, there might be scratch which your dvd player might have an issue to read it;however,if you have tried many dvds in this player and you are having this issue, it is time to move on to another dvd player. I recommend a Pioneer dvd player. solutiondoct
You need to take this back if you have the option. The picture freezing lets us know that the data stream is stopping. It will not work right again and it was just coincidental that you uses a diffrent kind of dvd.
it might be that you are playing a dual layer dvd in the player. The player needs to focus on the second layer of the movie, and that might be why the dvd freezes. Leave it there for a while and the dvd should continue if it is this situation.
