Same problem - same solution. I have tried to verify if there is too much movement in the tray (vertical) but it is a random issue with mine..... except now I can't get system to recognize I want to load DVD instead of tape! See separate thread.

Copy-protected DVDs prohibit people from copying them, which is piracy. Copying a DVD to sell or even to give away is illegal. You can play copy-protected DVDs in a standalone DVD player or in your computer's DVD drive, as long as your computer's software is up to date. These DVDs will play the same as DVDs that are not copy protected
Press the "Eject" button on your DVD player to open the DVD tray. Set the DVD into the tray, and push the "Eject" button to close the tray. Press the "Play" button on your DVD player, and the DVD will play. b> On a DVD Drive on a Computer Press the "Eject" button on your DVD drive to eject the DVD tray. Set the DVD into the DVD drive, and push the tray in to close it. Click the "Start" tab on your computer's home screen to open the "Start" menu. Click on "My Computer" to open it. Click on the DVD drive to open the DVD. Click on "Autoplay" to play the DVD.

Cleans and Repairs discs, helps prevent skipping and mistracking, and repairs minor surface scratches improving disc audio and image quality.

Hi, to open thje the disc tray , look for a tooth pick , insert small hole in front panel push and back until disc tray out. , motor belt need to replace.
Just next to the eject button on the actual recorder there should be a tiny pinhole. If you use a small paperclip and insert it, then push, you should be able to manually eject the DVD. Hope this helps!
