Sounds like your driver possibly became corrupted. Go to device manager and uninstall the driver and reinstall. If you have already done that, then I suggest you run system restore to take it back to an earlier point to see if that fixes it. Try running Avast anti-virus to see if the driver is infected.

You need to update your sound drivers,to do this go to start menu on your computer and type in the word "device manager",select it from a list of options and click on it you will see a list of components/devices that are working with your computer select the "sound" component.

Click on it and you will see your sound driver, right click the sound driver and you will see a list of options select "update driver software" this automatically search for updates, download them and install it in your computer.

You will have to restart your system for the update to work properly.

Thinkpad R51 Audio Driver

I had this exact same problem. Try this:

Above the keyboard are three hard keys for volume (down, up, and mute). The mute button only mutes, it does NOT unmute. To unmute, push the volume up button a few times. Now try your sounds again.

I was very confused because the hard mute key does not affect the GUI at all (you don't see the little speaker with the red x in the notification area). Hope this helps!

I try to unmute my volume on my compaq presario computer but it sayss no devices are found.what do i do?

Try updating the hardware driver for it.

Assuming that you are using some flavor of Windows, and guessing it might be XP ....

Right-clickie your My Computer and select the last item in the list, which is called Properties.

Select the Properties tab that is labeled Hardware.
On the Hardware tab, there is a button for Device Manager - click that one.

Look down the list for something called Sound and click the + beside it. In that list, there should be one named something like Integrated Audio. It may have some little symbol next to it, like an ! or perhaps a red X ....

Right-clickie the Integrated Audio (or whatever its called) and choose the option for Update Driver. Allow it to search for the driver Automatically when the Wizard opens up ... it will connect to the internet, find a suitable driver for you, and install it.

That should fix it.

If that does not fix it, you may have an actual hardware failure. If Sound is important enough, you may wish to have someone actually look at it for you.

No Sound

Is there any mute/unmute or volume control on the GPS? If so, is the mute/unmute function unmuted, and is the volume all the way up? If you have already checked this stuff, then would say that the device is bad (in which case you can probably send it back to Magellan for a replacement) or the speaker was somehow disconnected( in which case you can't fix it). Has the audio ever worked?
