Hi bud , Why dont you just burn the Setup for 98 too a disk , then in your PC settings when you boot , Set too boot from Disk , and put the 98 Disk in , And follow the setup and it will install no problem and save you alot of trouble , Hope you come right Happy new year bud :)
No ways , first of all Windows 98 doesn't recognise sata drives and will not boot even from a sata dvd writer, there are no drivers for Windows 98 to display correctly and you will have trouble running Windows 98 above 256 MB RAM
If you have the Windows 98 installation CD, simply put it in the CD drive and select 'repair', or just run it over the current installation. No files will be deleted, but you wll have a fresh install of Windows 98.
Unfortunately, if you do not have the Win98 CD, then this is pretty complicated and best attempted by a computer professional.
When you format something you WILL lose all of the data that was there. I would also recomend upgradeing to XP, 2000, or NT. You may need to reinstall the OS. If you need instructions ask me and I can help.
