Blank screeen I have a acer 19" Al1912. The power light flashes once every second. I can not get the monitor to do anything. I took it apart and the power supply board has a capacitor that the top has puff up a little bit but it is not leaking yet. When it is plugged in the capacitors get warm. I am not sure what the problem is exactly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Been there, done that. The power LED cycling indicates that the switchmode PSU is shutting down and trying to restart over. Standard symptom, let me guess the bulging cap is on the top row. Replace it with a same value/voltage (1000uF/10V from memory) low ESR 105C type and you'll be back in business.

Sounds like the backlight bulb has burned out, this is a common issue with LCD screened laptops.

Hi Cat, You can try removing the data cable of your monitor, the one connecting to the back of the tower/computer. If there are no issues on the monitor, normally you will be getting the power self test which is indicated by three vertical colors on the screen (Red, BLue, Green). If you dont see the power self test, it may be a problem with the monitor. YOu may want to try using a different monitor to isolate issue if available

Most comon problem with monitors are bad caps in the power supply, any good reapair shop should be able to fix them easily, see pictures of failed monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
At least you will have some info so you will not get ripped off by repair shops.

Hi there,my acer al1912 monitor lights up briefly after i turn it ln and then turn black what could this be? Pieter

It could be the problem in the power supply because of bad caps, or bad inverter circuits, or worst will be bad lamps. Look for bad caps first and report back what you see so we can guide you further, see example of failed monitors due to bad caps and lamps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

How can I connect my Fujitsu Siemens key board with my Acer AL1912 monitor? There is a connect button on the key board, but where is the connect button on the Acer?

Is it a wireless keyboard? If that is the case, then you should have a receiver unit attached to the PC, usually to a USB port. The ACER is justt a monitor, here is the user manual: http://www.retrevo.com/support/Acer-AL1912-Monitors-manual/id/719ag115/t/2/

Acer AL1912 19" LCD Monitor goes black after power up

With the screen connected to the pc (which is running and putting out a signal) hold a bright light to the front of the lcd - a led flashlight works well. Do you see an image? If so then circuitry driving the inverter backlights may be at fault. I had this happen with a Dell Flat Screen, and found one of a pair of transistors which drives the backlight had developed a short.

I have a acer al1912 faulty

It might be worth a try but the two different sizes could have differing resolutions and if they do, the boards are not likely interchangeable.

Your minitors power supply is now damaged, probably from the power outage. I t will need to be repaired or replaced. Check the cost and benifits of both options and make a discision.

Acer 1912 monitor that ceased to function

My monitor started to flash for 3 or four minutes before starting up, this was after three good years of faultless service. (I've always found Acer monotors to be excellent value) I was just about to purchase a pair of new monitors online when I decided to take it apart, as I had nothing to lose. I found that 2 capacitors on the mainboard had bulged and leaked. A quick trip to Maplins and 79 pence later I was armed with 2 new 1000uf 16v capacitors and within five minutes had removed and replaced the damaged items. I now have my good old AL1912 back in service.
