Alerts give a single ring and do not display on screen.

Don't text it, it is probably a scam! Call your service provider they can block the incoming messages for you, or There are if you google your handset model, ways to block unwanted messages, also depending on your location/country there are regulated numbers provided by your service provider that will give you a number to forward this message to & they can block the number from contacting you further, sorry without knowing your provider & country I can't advise you further, sorry hope this has been of some use to you..

Hi,
when a phone doesn't ring out it means that the ringer of the phone that alerts you when incoming calls, messages etc, is bad and will need to be replaced.

click the volume button on the side of the phone then use the touch screen to slide the reciever slider to your preferred level then test it by calling.

Go to menu>Settings>Applications>Voice Command>Call Alert>Ring only

After going through the manual and talking to an AT&T rep, I found that it is not possible to set your own ringtone as a message alert tone. You can only use your own ringtones for calls and ringer ID's. We're stuck with the 10 pre-loaded rings for the message alerts. :(

try going to settings - control panel - device - sound and alerts. check volume

Press
Start-settings-profiles-normal(or profile wich you want to change)-press menu on the profile-then choose edit.
And there you will find -
Ring volume
Alarm volume and others.

Sound settings Use this menu to customise various sound settings.
Incoming call
Use this menu to select a volume level and alert type
for incoming calls.
• Alert type: specify how you are to be informed of
incoming calls.
• Ring tone: select a ringtone for the call ringer.
• Volume: select a ringer volume.
Keypad tone
Use this menu to select the tone that the phone
sounds when you press a key.
Message tone
Use this menu to set up the ringtone for incoming
messages.
Menu functions
• Tone: select one of several message tones.
• Alert type: specify how you are informed when a
message comes in.
• Repetition: specify how often the phone informs
you of a new message.
Power-on/off tone
Use this menu to select the melody that the phone
sounds when it is switched on or off.
Slide tone
Use this menu to select the tone that the phone
sounds when you open or close the phone.
Silent mode
Use this menu to set how the phone acts to alert you
to a specific event in Silent mode.
Extra tones
Use this menu to customise additional tones for the
phone.
• Minute minder: set the phone to beep every
minute during an outgoing call to keep you
informed of the length of your call.
• Connection tone: set the phone to beep when an
outgoing call is connected to the system.
• Alerts on call: set the phone to beep when you
receive a new message or when the time for an
alarm comes during a call.
• Indicative tone: set the phone to beep when a
pop-up window displays.

Look at the ring volume. Make sure it's not at zero. Let me know if that works.
