We have a JVC xl-r5010 3 CD changer. The CD side keeps going through the three drawers and not "reading" CDs. Even thought there is a CD in the third drawer. (the first drawer won't open). however, the same CD in the CD R side is read and seems to be playing, even though no sound is coming out through the "phones" The power button seems to have stopped working. Do you think its repairable? Or is it time to dump it? Thanks!! Candee V

if cracks having in disc mean some times header does read disc! clean your header with disc cleaner!
SOURCE: cd changer drawer won't open
the common problem for this would be some of the disc/discs are out of place . just opening the shell
and removing the discs can resolve the problem.

No solution - plastic thread driving opening/closing had snapped after 16 years!

The tray belt raises the laser to proper focal length at the end of closing the drawer. This demands more grip from the belt. If the belt is sloppy, it will slip at this point, even though the drawer is shut. Took two years of repeatedly cleaning lasers to notice this.

Take the cover off and inspect for a jammed disc.
If there are no jammed discs you either have a broken belt or stripped gear.
You will have to take the unit apart and inspect, belts are commercially available from electronic stores and are a cheap easy fix!
Let me know if you need more details or guidance.
Cheers!
