In North America, paging plan can run from $6.95-20/month depending upon coverage area, volume of pages, and other add-ons. Many companies still use them as they are amongst the cheapest and most reliable method to get a hold of people. Pager signals can reach areas cell phones cannot, can be safely operated in sensitive areas like hospitals, and are made to withstand abuse cell phones cannot. Some pager services offer voicemail pickup, some offer numerical paging, some offer alphanumeric paging, some offer customer internet gateways to reach you.
