Tv shuts off by itself then flashes a code 8 blinks

Eight blinks means, "High voltage error". The probable cause location listed is "T8005 is faulty (D board). T8005 is the fly-back transformer (FBT). or you can replace the full d-board
You may purchase the D board complete for $185.10

or send in for repair here

if one of the crt is shorted it can also cause this problem.
