My Sony isn't working and is blinking 8 times. I have found that this is an Audio problem. Well, I live way back in the boonies and to pay someone.......well, I may be able to fix it if I could get further info on where this IC406 Audio Amp is located inside the gaggle of boards. As you can tell, I don't want to spend my money on a $200 service call plus parts and labor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

KP46WT510 Shutdown 6 Blinks. 6 Blinks = Low B+ OCP/OVP SOLUTION: Replaced Flyback transformer. It had no rings on the ringer test. HQ Comments: Any load on the B+ line can cause 6 Blinks. Example: If the 200v line is loaded down will cause a drop in B+ due to bright picture current demand.

You have a strt up problem. I found, in a similiar Sony Big Screen a couple of fixes. First thing to try is unplug the set from the wall for about 15 minutes and then plug it back in and retry the set. If this corrects the problem, I suggest you purchase a good ( Not a 5 dollar piece of junk) surge protector. ( One rated at 500-1500 joules. A good surge protector may prevent future processor lock ups. If this doesn't correct the problem, the problem lies in the circuit boards of the set. I found one problem in a Sony like you describe had a bad convergence chip and a burned resistor in the same board. Good Luck
