    thank you for responding, not very far. Every time we try to download our anti spy ware, we get to where it is fixing to install and a window box pops up asking us for our password.

  • confederate- Apr 20, 2009

    yes under the control panel i went to administravite tools and i couldnt find a password that had anything to do with advisory, only password thing i could find was for user accounts. I know how to do and undo those, but this has me stumped. I am thinking maybe, the guy who fixed our computer when it had a virus may have set it up to keep from damages occuring again...but i am just stumped

If your talking about internet explorer just do this, to restore Content Advisor to its original condition you can obtain a Microsoft program (CA-Reset.exe - 89.5 KB) to do
this here:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/CA-Reset.exe
(listed on line 283) NOTE: Using CA-Reset will completely delete your
Approved List - everything starts like brand new, so consider this before
you use it.

The Best Free PC Security

Free PC Security: OS Microsoft Windows 2,000, XP, 2003, Vista, 7

These are the best free security programs that I have found that actually do get rid of mal-ware, spy-ware, viruses, and worms for free. If your security program is not protecting your system very well, or it is an older paid for version that is now out of date and will not update any longer unless you purchase the new version, then you might do well to download and install these very powerful and efficient security programs.

You should only have one anti-virus/anti-spy-ware program installed and running on your PC or a conflict can occur, besides the fact that there would be an un-necessary use of the system resources. If you remove your old security program be sure to remove it from the add and remove programs in the control panel (some security programs have to be disabled before they can be removed). Also mal-ware is not the same as viruses, spy-ware, or worms. Malwarebytes will not remove any viruses, spy-ware, or worms, and AVG will not remove any mal-ware either.

AVG-Free Edition will automatically update itself and run security scans, it can be set from the AVG control panel in tools, advanced settings, schedules. You should set up the schedule so that it will update and scan at a time when the PC is not in use (usually during the middle of the night).

Also be sure that the Microsoft auto-update is not scheduled to run at the same time that you scheduled AVG to update or run a scan, if it is then change the Microsoft auto-update settings to something that will not run at the same time that AVG runs, for example (evryday 9:00 a.m., every Sunday 9:00 a.m., etc.). You can change the Microsoft auto-update settings in control panel, auto-updates.

Malwarebytes is the best free anti mal-ware program that I have found, the free edition will not auto-update or auto-scan and these functions must be manually done, but that is trivial compared to the protection that this program provides. After Malwarebytes has been installed, update it from the update tab and then check for any updates, after any updates then run a scan from the scanner tab, and then select a Full scan for the first time.

If you are using Vista right click on Malwrebytes and select Run As Administrator.

To fully protect your PC, Malwarebytes should be ran anytime that you close your web browser and are done using the internet, you should run a quick scan and if any malware is found then you should also run a full scan to be sure that the malware has been completely purged from your entire PC.

You can also protect your PC from known rogue web sites by downloading and installing SpywareBlaster, it does not scan for anything, and it does not remove anything, SpywareBlaster will prevent your internet explorer from connecting to known restricted, harmful, or rogue web sites for an added layer of protection.

Download AVG-Free Edition from here;

http://download.cnet.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10320142.html?tag=mncol

Download Malwarebytes from here;

http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?tag=mncol

Download SpywareBlaster from here;

http://download.cnet.com/SpywareBlaster/3000-8022_4-10196637.html?tag=mncol

These security programs will do a very good job at protecting your PC from internet threats. I used to have to fight these threats all the time to get rid of them, on either friends or family if not my own PC, but ever since I have installed these three programs on my system, and that of all my friends and family, it has actually become quite boring and I almost miss the battles.

How to remove Trojan JS/Exploit.CP

The first thing that you should do is to get rid of any malware on your PC. You should download and install Malwarebytes, it is a very powerful free anti-malware program that does just what it says it does, remove malware and it does it exceptionally well. You can download Malwarebytes from here;

http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?tag=mncol

After you have installed Malwarebytes update it by selecting the update tab and then check for updates, after you have updated Malwarebytes then select the scanner tab and then run a Full scan for the first scan.

You should run a quick scan with Malwarebytes whenever you are done using the internet, update it first then run a quick scan, The free edition of Malwarebytes does not auto-update or auto-scan you have to do it manually, but that is really trivial compared to how well this program works. If any malware shows up running a quick scan, then run a full scan after the quick scan completes, that way you purge it out of your PC completely.

Also, if your security program, anti-spyware/anti-virus, program is not protecting your system very well then you should download and install AVG-Free Edition, this is another very good program that does what it is supposed to do, remove spy-ware, viruses, and worms. You can download AVG-Free from here;

http://download.cnet.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10320142.html?tag=mncol

You can set when AVG will check for updates, and when to do a system scan in tools, advanced settings, schedules. Usually you would want to set it up to run when the PC is not being used (usually in the middle of the night).

Also, you should not have more than one anti-virus/anti-spy-ware program installed on your PC or it may cause a conflict and use up resources unnecessarily, If your security is not protecting your PC remove it from your PC by going into add or remove programs in the control panel.

Also, you should know that malware and spyware/viruses are not the same, AVG does not remove malware, and Malwarebytes does not remove spy-ware, viruses, or worms.

You can also help protect your PC from connecting to known rogue web sites by downloading and installing SpywareBlaster, it does not scan for anything and it does not remove anything, it only prevents you internet browser from connecting to known rogue web sites. You can download it from here;

http://download.cnet.com/SpywareBlaster/3000-8022_4-10196637.html?tag=mncol

Make sure that you update and enable all security in SpywareBlaster. Check for updates about once a month, and be sure that you enable the new updates.

Spy-ware installation on blackberry cell phone

An anti-spyware app installs like any other app, but it is nearly impossible to install spyware on a blackberry without it showing in the applications list, so anti-spy-ware applications are mostly pointless. don't waste your memory or your money.

I cannot sin in to yahoo

Hello and thank you for using Fixya's services.

Check and make sure that you are correctly putting the right user-name and password. The user-name for Yahoo! doesn't have to contain @yahoo.com, just the first part of user-name.

Also, make sure that you have the newest version of Yahoo! installed on your computer. If you are not sure, it wouldn't hurt to download and install newest version here.

Also, run your spy-ware and anti-virus to make sure there is nothing on your computer preventing you from logging on to Yahoo! Messenger.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

It runs multiple screens with the message internet script error

Hi hbatessr. You have a virus/spyware problem. Whatever has infected your system is trying to access different websites. You need to install and run a spy-ware and anti-virus program to resolve this. If you want some free programs, go to www.download.com and search for and download AVG anti-virus free version and Ad-Aware free version. Once you update and run both of these products, you will find lots of stuff that has infected your computer and needs to be deleted.
Hopes this helps!
