It won't dispense ice or water. The light comes on but "nobody's home"
Same model, same problem. Take the control board / faceplate assembly off of the front of the freezer door. There's a little screw where under the edge where the cup goes. Look at the ribbon cable (the cable that looks like a ribbon). If it looks like some lines are darker than the others (fried), something got in it and shorted it out. Your best bet is to replace the board.

ice is coming out but no water , it worked fine last night before bed!
I've had the fridge for almost 4 years and am having the same problem.
no ice
The ice and water in the door has been acting sort of funny lately. The other day the lights began to blink and nothing worked (ice, water, the light etc). This morning the light have stopped blinking but nothing is working. Not sure what the problem is.
We have the GE eterna too. Stopped dispensing water after remodelers shut off water to house one weekend. However, it does make ice again, just not water. Even after removing and backflushing and priming the filter, it still makes ice but no water. Years ago it was the opposite...dispensed water but not ice. Solved the ice dispensing per the instructions in the manual, which had to do with turning OFF the ice maker while changing filter or whatever. Turning ON the ice maker has to be the last step. It is done by taking out the white platform above the ice hopper to see the toggle/rocker switch. Anyway, the manual tells the proper order for the on/off of the ice machine...best not to trust my memory. Just wish it would tell how to fix the water. One time I fixed the water by cleaning spiggot area and a chunk of lime fell out of somewhere and then the lever traveled farther and allowed the water switch to trip. Not so lucky this time.
The problem with mine is that the water line freezes at some point where it runs inside the freezer door. If I disconnect the water line under the fridge, and press the dispenser, water shoots out of the line. But, if I reconnect the line, it won't dispense. I had a repairman visit, and he used a tool to shoot hot water up the line. Sure enough, it worked. But, the line froze again within three days. I have tried increasing the temperature in the freezer with no luck. I have noticed that when the room is warmer, the line will thaw and work for a few days, but it soon refreezes. The repairman said the only fix is to replace the door. I won't be doing that ... unless they have redesigned the door so that the problem will no longer occur.
