click start control panel sounds and audio volume advanced speakers make sure you have selected the

(appropriate speakers) also audio you will find 3 drop down lists make sure you have the correct settings there

click start control panel sounds and audio devices select advanced there might be a tick in the mute box untick it

Perhaps it is a hardware issue. Either the speakers or the on-board audio may not be working...

However, in most cases, it is a driver problem. I did some research, and it does indeed take RealTek Ac 97 drivers, but there's a chance the driver is corrupt. I found the driver on CNET.com, originally a dell driver, but they work the same.

Give that a try and I hope it works for you. If it doesn't, try headphones or another set of speakers. If that doesn't work, you may need to look into finding a pci audio card.

After downloadiing them follow the on-screen instructions to install the drivers.
