Hello, Blow out the keyboard with a can of air, if that doesn't work after reboot. Then the keyboard will have to be replace and repaired.

Capital letter on keyboard to write password

On a standard Qwerty keyboard the Caps lock or hold down the shift key to get a capital letter.

Touch screen keyboards are a bit more complex - mine starts with capitals and after the first letter reverts to lowercase and the shift key has to be touched again for another upper case letter.

Suddenly I can't type symbols that require the shift key. Capital letters work normally as do numbers.

Not sure if this is what your looking for but you might try to give this a try . It Could be your sticky keys and the worse thing: they can be activated by mistake. Sticky keys make it so you don't have to hold the shift, ctrl, alt and Win keys in order to activate their special functions. You can hit shift, let it go, and then hit a letter. You will get a capital letter.
How do you activate it? Usually by tapping on the shift button five times in a row. When you do that, a beep sounds, and the above dialog box appears. If you're not paying attention, you might just hit yes without realizing, it is the default answer after all, and you're stuck with sticky keys.
So how do you fix it? If you've managed to activate sticky keys by mistake, tapping five times on the shift button will turn them off. You won't see a notice about it, but you'll hear four beeps, and then a distinctive downwards beep. Sticky keys are now off!

What is the blue button for on my acer travelmate 3230

The blue button (on nearly all notebook computers) is a "Function" shift key. Since space is a concern on portable computers, it is appealing to have each key on the keyboard do "double duty" We are familiar with this, using the SHIFT key, to capitalize and to select the symbols above the numbers on the top of the keyboard (ex. SHIFT/8 is an *)
Similarly, there are blue images on some of the keys that can be accessed by pressing the Blue FUNCTION key along with that key (just like you would use a SHIFT key to select a capital letter). Sometimes, these icons can be a bit cryptic, so consult your manual or Google "Travelmate 3230 keyboard".

Hope this helps.

Left shift key types symbols not capital letters

it could be set to do so in system settings, like a shortcut. or there could internally be something inside under the keys which causes it to do that

Hi,

You might have a hardware issue with your laptop keyboard. You have at least 2 options:

1) connect a "normal" USB keyboard to your laptop and use it, instead

2) run the On-Screen Keyboard (osk.exe) and access the characters/keys you want from there

Good Luck!

Gateway M460 capitalization issues

Try both shift keys, the left one may have died. Otherwise use Caps Lock.

Try this:
Navigate to Control Panel and double click Keyboard.
Select the Driver Tab at the top.
Now click Update Driver.

Updating the driver may work, otherwise a new board may be needed.

Take care!

I am trying to do a cap and can't figure out how to to change frame setting to be able to do this

Are you talking about making text capitalized?

If so, then all you need to do is hold down your "shift" key on the bottom left of your keyboard at the same time you press the letter in which you want to make capital and then release both keys.

If you want to type a whole line of capitalized letters, press the "cap lock" key on the bottom left side of your keyboard and then you dont have to hold down the shift key.

Cannot use letters of my laptop unless use fn key but not capital

You need to press the NumLock key to get the keyboard to get back to alphanumeric - it has a symbol of a lock with a number 1 on it. A LED should also go out/icon in your tool tray should disappear as well.
