WE have replaced our ice maker in our Whirlpool refrigerator 4 times in the last 4 years. Our refrigerator obviously is a Whirlpool and the ice maker was ordered with the ice maker installed. WE are concerned because we have no other troubles with the refrigerator, however replacing the ice maker every year is very costly. Each unit has cost approx. $85.00. Please let me know if there are any recalls on the ice maker units or what the problem can be. We experience the ice maker starts to leak water causing the ice to clump making the ice not usable. If we don't constantly turn the ice maker off, the water leaks so badly that the ice in the bin becomes 1 hugs clump of solid ice. Please Help!!!!

If the fill tube gets choked up with ice, (Figure S-4) it usually means that the water fill solenoid valve is leaking. The valve is not closing properly and is dribbling water. If the leakage is slow enough, water may freeze in the fill tube. Over time it will freeze the tube completely shut.

Whirlpool ED5VHEXVQ03 side by side. Ice maker is not making ice. Checked water line - okay. Checked water valve - okay. Water filling tray - okay.

Whirlpool Ice Makers are about the hardest working part on your refrigerator and their average life is about five years. You can fill the tray with tap water if the ice slots are already empty and let the water freeze. If after the water freezes and the ice drops to ice bin then the water control valve.

Click Here=> 4389177 Water Inlet Valve will need replaced. You mentioned the water is filling the tray OK then my focus would be on the ice maker.

Model TFX25PR ; Does the ice cube maker require any lubrication ?

The type ice makers made for your model and other models require no lubrication and are one of the most used parts of your refrigerator especially if there is a large family and lots of ice used daily. They never seem to stop working while the average refrigerator last 15 to 20 years the average life of an ice maker is only 5 years. Even ice makers that have replaceable parts the repair parts are more expensive in most cases than complete replacement. Below is an example of an average ice maker that Whirlpool and Maytag uses that have the Teflon coating in the ice slots. Your model is for GE,=> Model WR30X10093 Ice Maker and has electronic controls and no replaceable parts. Thanks, Sea Breeze

Ice maker not working in side by side whirpool refrigerator

Who replaced a motor in an ice maker? There are no motors to replace. Demand your money back and buy a new ice maker at your local appliance parts store or on line.
