SOURCE: XBOX 360 green light flashing....

Its the drive. Most of the problems with the drive not opening is the belt slipping inside. If you can find a new belt for the motor then change it. Otherwise I would Swap out the board to the new drive and it should solve your problem.

SOURCE: My xbox 360 won't read my disks

if it does this with all the disks then your drive is either 1.drive is bad 2.firmware is corrupt. i would assume that your drive is bad, unless you have tried to hack your drive firmware and corrupted it. if you did try and hack the drive send me an email at [email protected] and i can tell you how to reverse it.

Tray won't close

Use the following steps to close the disc tray on an original Xbox 360 console.
Step 1: Remove the disc from the tray Step 2: Make sure the faceplate is on correctly
The faceplate is the plastic piece on the front of your console.
  • Press firmly around the edges of your faceplate to snap it into place (make sure it is flush with the rest of the console). If the faceplate is not on correctly, the disc tray won't close.
  • If you find that the faceplate is the problem, please contact Xbox Support to order a replacement faceplate.
If this does not resolve your issue, please try step 3. Step 3: Press the eject buttonTry closing the disc tray by pressing the eject button. If the disc tray successfully closes, open the tray and insert a disc. Now try opening and closing the tray with a disc in the tray.
Note Make sure that the disc isn't sticky and doesn't have any labels that could prevent the tray from closing.
If your disc drive still will not close, please try step 4. Step 4: Move the disc drive tray
  1. Gently move the tray up and down, and then from side to side.
  2. Press the eject button on your Xbox 360 console. If your disc drive still will not close, you need to have your console repaired.

You could just press the eject button on the front of the console located on the left hand side of the disk tray. I dont think there is a way anymore to do it through the dashboard.

How to rip musc to my harddrive

Play Recordable CDs Containing MP3/WMA Audio Files
To play recordable CDs containing MP3 and/or WMA audio files:

Press the eject button on the Xbox 360 console (or select Open Tray from any area of the Xbox Dashboard) to open the disc tray.

Place a data CD-R or CD-RW containing MP3 and/or WMA media on the disc tray with the label facing up (to the right if the console is vertical).

Press the eject button (or select Close Tray from any area of the Xbox Dashboard) to close the disc tray.
Go to the Media area of the Xbox Dashboard. Select Music, Current Disc.
To play all tracks on the CD, select either Play All or Add to Current Playlist.

If you have an existing playlist open, Add to Current Playlist will append all tracks on your current CD to that playlist. Selecting Play All will clear a current playlist and create a new one consisting of all the files on the current CD. (Be sure to save your playlist, if desired, prior to selecting the Play All option.) Files are added to a playlist in alphabetical order by file name. Playlists start again from the beginning once the final track has played.
