Leaks as above and motor continues to run when trigger is released.
If the motor runs continuously, rather than pulsing on and off, then this points to a major leak rather than a simple seal failure. If there's any possibility that the machine has been subject to frost, then part of the high pressure system may be split. This is not as bad as it sounds, as even replacing the whole cylinder head and control head assembly is not unduly expensive.
Having said that, I have seen one machine recently with this problem where the only thing wrong with it was that a joint between the pump head and the high pressure hose connector had simply come apart (shouldn't be possible, but it had).

Water in oil tank.... nozzle doesn't spray but engine runs fine....

I have a similar problem - When there is just hose pressure, water tends to trickle out from under the guard. When the motor is turned on, there is a relatively consistent spray. The motor pulses on and off - it appears. With the guard in place I cannot identify where the leak is coming from.
