Espon Stylus Photo R210 solid red light near teardrop sign

Good Morning,

My printer is a R210 not a R220. I have aquired the above printer and it has been sitting idle for approx 12 months. I have downloaded the drivers and everything seems ok, however I have a solid power light on and a solid red light (left hand button near teardrop sign!). I suspect it is asking me to change all cartridges as they may have dried up? Any advice. Also do you know where I can download a user guide?

Thanking you in advance for an assistance you may be able to provide.

Most epson printers dry up after about 3-4 months so you will need to replace the cartridges and do a head cleaning about 3-6 times for them to work right. BTW the teardrop symbol means "ink".

press the button above the light for about 3 seconds to get it to move to the fill position. good luck!

I have just got all my old printers up and going.. ALL of the errors i got eventually went away after i cleaned all the contacts for the inks .. both my lasers and inkjets... Good contact cleaning solution and bit elbow grease and when these very low voltage components try to talk, they actually talk a language and PRESTO, life.. I am not saying it may not just be a need for new ink or refil, but as i say.. all my messages for new ink went away after i cleaned and i am happy lad. Hope this gives ideas to those wih nojn sensical problems when you KNOW your printer used to be OK.

I have just resurrected laser and inkjets years old... I did have to replace some dried inks, but some said they needed replacement when I could still hear the ink inside. I have been reading for years trying to find wht this all happens... My solution was to figure out something so simple we all over look it. I repair machines ... much of the time it needs ram reset and CPU reseated.... why? dry contacts. It cam to me the other day... I got excellent contact cleaner and went to work on all the cartridge contacts in my inkjets and lasers. It took a few tries and stubborn belief that it just is low vaoltage communication errors between components... VOILA... I ave ALL my p[rinter working again... Peronally I am amzed no one has ever thought to mention this before?!... BUT TRY IT... be purposeful and careful. You may be happily surprised as resurrection... Now my wifew has to eat mud after telling me to dump them for all these years ...lol... smiles .. a NEW bone to chew... chukles .. hope this helps some... At least another idea or arrow in your quiver... good luck

Epson R220 has solid red teardrop light on - will not print.

I hooked up the printer to my old computer which has Windows XP. My new computer has Vista. The problem is with Vista as it does not allow me access to the ink monitor levels as is not the case with XP. This is one problem that I have noticed with Vista and would like to know if there is a quick fix for this. How can they put out a product inferior to Windows XP? There must be a download of some kind to fix this problem.

R220

what type of light? ink light or paper light?
if its on ink light it means one or more of the inks is empty, if its the paper light means paper is jammed.
try to turn off/on the printer then load again paper.
