SOURCE: R-4H84 Sharp Carousel II microwave oven stoped working

A microwave can be dead for many reasons.

The fuse is normally located on the floor of the chassis behind the control panel or between the door switches.

If the fuse is good, it may be an open thermostat or thermal cutout (TCO) / thermal fuse on or near the magnetron or on top of the cavity / body of the oven.

If it goes dead for a while during or after cooking then comes back on, the magnetron is probably overheating and causing the magnetron thermostat to open.

Then when it cools, it closes the circuit and allows power through again.

When checking thermostats, if it has a hood fan thermostat, that should read open, as opposed to the others, which should read closed.

If it went dead almost immediately after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a shorted high-voltage capacitor.

If it went dead a few seconds after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a failing high-voltage transformer.

If it goes dead or blows the breaker when you plug it in or open or close the door, then there's a problem with a door switch or door switch mount.

If it's intermittent or random, it may be a bad connection, usually on the control board or a loose fuse holder, or even an intermittent fuse.

You should do a continuity test on the fuse while it's in the holder (with the microwave unplugged, of course) then turn the fuse by hand or take it out and put it back in, then test it again.

If you remove the fuse, then press the meter leads against the ends, it can allow internal contact to be made and make a bad fuse appear to be good.

SOURCE: I just need to purchase the correct light bulb for

The Sharp part number for the oven lamp is RLMPT0003YBE0 (those are "zeroes", not "ohs").

Maybe the generic # is EHKN-122?

You can order the original from Encompass here or you can call them toll-free at 866-779-5835.

Bulbs (and 20A ceramic fuses when needed) can be had locally in most grocery stores, hardware stores, home improvement centers (Lowe's, Home Depot, Builders Square), and big box or department stores like Wal-Mart.

Just take the old one and match it up.

Always unplug a microwave before removing or installing any bulbs.

SOURCE: Sharp Microwave Oven over stove fan goes on by itself

Please note that FixYa is not currently notifying us Experts when Clarification Requests are answered.

So please post a
NEW question, and please include your brand name and the full model number from the tag in or on the unit, as well as the answers to these questions:

Which fan is it?

The
internal cooling fan, which comes on automatically whenever the unit is microwaving?

Or the hood vent exhaust fan which you can turn on and off manually?

Or the convection fan, if it is a convection model?

When is it coming on?

Is it coming on whenever you cook on the stove top?

Thanks!

We're trying to remove our sharp R-1420B microwave oven off the wall. We're having absolutely no luck. How do we get this off the wall?

I just removed our Sharp R-1420B microwave. Unplug the microwave. Start by removing the two bolts from the top cabinet (one left and one right). Remove the decorative screws (one left and one right) from the bottom support bracket. I used a plastic bucket sitting on the range as support under the microwave (you may need a couple different sizes). Once the bucket is in place, pull down on the attachment brackets where the decorative bolts were located near the bottom. I used a vise grip to attach and pull them down, and they came down fairly easy. By doing this, the top of the microwave should become detached from the wall. Once you allow the microwave to tilt down far enough (you may need to move the bucket or use a shorter one), you should be able to lift the bottom of the unit off the lower support bracket. Now you can just pull it out from the wall.

What is a replacement microwave for the Sharp Carousel II model R-9H81. I currently have this built-in oven and need to replace it with one of the same dimensions. Thanks.

You can contact Sharp at 1-800-BE-SHARP (1-800-237-4277) or visit them online.

They should be able to recommend a "drop-in" replacement.

Limited space for over the range microwave

You can call Sharp and ask them what current models if any will be drop-in replacements, either using the same mounting hardware or at least the same space.
